Customer Reviews

Might work as winter gloves with a smaller pair as liners...I decided to purchase this pair of work gloves as my outdoor winter gloves. I experience cold ND winters (below freezing, and sometimes well below 0F), and was surprised to not be able to find any decent winter gloves. The other reviews I read about these gloves did prove helpful -- I decided to also purchase a smaller pair of gloves to function as an inner lining along with this pair. I used the sizing guide from Amazon and was able to find a size just large enough to allow for my hands and the smaller gloves. As others had commented, these gloves would not stand on their own in cold winter conditions -- I would definitely not want to try these for working outdoors where I live. I have Carhartt winter overalls that are fantastic -- do NOT assume that these gloves will be of that quality. However, that said, in combination with a smaller pair of gloves, these serve my needs. My hands still get cold in severe weather after a while, but it prevents frostbite!I do find that it can be hard to pick up smaller items, such as my keys, with the thicker fingers on these gloves, and sometimes I do take them off to get my keys out or to open my car door. But these gloves do fine with short-term contact with snow (such as brushing it off from my vehicle), and I've liked how these have held up. 4-28 degrees in snow!!Chose these gloves after reading reviews on many gloves out there. Headed to the frigid ND oil fields. Outside in -28 degrees for 7 hours straight for my first time to wear them and never once felt cold. These gloves aren't for fishing out keys from a pocket or small tools from the tray but handling the tool once you get it.....it's outstanding. No air gap at the wrist and my hands never got wet in all the snow. Hands were always warm! You'll want to take them off when you get in from the cold or you'll overheat. There is extra insulation at the finger tips but the inside of the extra large fit my hand perfectly and it's the size I expected. I'd highly recommend these for anyone outside in extreme cold conditions. The Carhartt performance that you expect. 5I have bad circulation in my fingersI ordered these in XX-Large, so that I could use them with the Seirus Mens glove liners. I have bad circulation in my fingers, so I need extra protection in cold weather. Others may not need this. I just got these, and I only do light work in them, such as clearing snow off the car and driveway. These gloves performed better than average without the glove liners, while shoveling snow. I was able to stay out for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, my fingers were cool but not cold. I found that teaming the glove liners with these gloves provided the warmth I needed when the temperatures were in the mid 20's. The gloves will seem thick around your fingers, so do not expect to be able to turn the pages of a book or other things that require finer movements and grip. I will post an update after a few months, or if they fall apart. 5Very nice gloves.Very Nice gloves. For me, they run a HAIR smaller than I expected, but they may break in. I've been wearing them for a week.I saw a guy I work with wearing these, and I thought they looked sharp, so I ordered them. I wish I had found them ten years ago. Super nice. Extreme quality. They appear tough & functional. Well thought out features. An absorbent area on the back of the thumb, to wipe your nose?? Are you kidding? That's thinking. The gauntlets are perfect. Not so big that they interfere with everything, but they do work. For the price on Amazon, I'd give them a shot.I personally don't need a glove like this ALL the time.... But when I need it, I NEED it..... 5Mediocre at bestSo far I've worn them only for one cold day, about 25 degrees. Pretty good, not great.Got a bit chilly after a half hour. I bought them because someone on this website in the question section said these gloves had 100 grams of insulation, which is why I got them. There is nothing anywhere, even on the Carhartt website, that says that. Inside the gloves says 100 percent polyester lining, so maybe that's what that moron saw. Very very tight fit for a size large, and I do not have large hands at all. Mediocre at best. You can do better for less. 2must have warm handsbought 4 pairs for my guys in the warehouse. We work in un-heated warehouses on the East River in Brooklyn, NY, so we know what cold and wind are. this is the 3rd time in 10 years I purchased this glove for the guys and they still love them!! amazon has the best price and delivery time on the net!!!! 5Seriously warmFinally I have gloves that keep my hands warm!! Regular thinsulate gloves leave my hands getting cold within 15 minutes of subfreezing weather. These last up to an hour before my finger tips start to numb up, but that is as long as I need or want to be outside when it is freezing anyway. 5Okay, but could be better.I have given an okay review, but with the Carhartt label, I was expecting a better glove. On the plus side the gloves are rugged and do keep the hands warm. However the insulation stops at the heel of the hand and there is no insulation in the gauntlet. This leads to some very cold wrists. On the quality side, there is a hard sharp inside the insulation on one of the fingers. When this starts digging into my finger, I must take the glove off and try to move the object to a more comfortable position. Over all these are nice good gloves for taking winter walks and removing snow, but with a small amount of insulation and some attention to detail, ther would be better. 3Almost PerfectI really do love these gloves. Perfect for outdoor work in the winter. I mostly use them for chain sawing, moving branches, chopping and collecting firewood. They are extremely durable(chain saw kicked back and got me on the hand, but didn't penetrate or even tear the glove!), are pretty nimble at the fingertips, and cuffs that can go over any size jacket sleeve and cinch tight. My one and only issue I came across on these gloves would be the insulation at the finger tips... If it's below 20 degrees I can barely last 10min snow blowing, the rest of my hand stays nice n' toasty, but my finger tips literally feel like they will fall off. Granted, most gloves do not protect your finger tips as well as the rest of your hand, but I just found it really pronounced in these gloves in relation to how insulated the rest of the glove is. Overall, this is one tough, solid glove that should not be overlooked and as long as you're not exposing the finger tips while keeping them sedentary(ie snow blowing) you should be really happy with these! 5Good at -20 for almost 2 hoursI've had these for over a year now and I LOVE them. I've lived in a cold climate for 50 years, we get really cold temps, down to -20F before windchill sometimes, and I use these to snowblow and ATV plow my very long driveway. Sometimes I'm out for up to 2 hours, and at -20 my hands are warm, although toward the end of a 2 hour stint they can still get a little cold. Frankly, expensive mittens are the best thing for crazy cold temps like that, but mittens aren't practical for this job. At 0 or above I can wear these all day long and my hands are fine. They're about 90% as warm as my extremely expensive brand name ski gloves, but these only cost me about 1/5 of the price. And no, I'm not a shill, just a guy whose hands are cold all the time. 5
