I bought this coat in black for costuming, I am not a cook, though I think this would be a very nice chefs coat as well. I use this jacket for an inaccurate Star Wars ROTJ costume, my V for vendetta costume and with a priest collar. I think it looks really sharp and may even wear it out. It is a durable polyester/cotton blend mostly poly feel a little stiff before washing. Now as one reviewer stated it does not have the front pocket as pictured, which I was happy about, it does have the temperature gauge/pencils pockets on the upper sleeve. Now the sizing was the most tricky for most people, because of previous reviews I ordered the medium and I usually wear a large in most shirts and coats. This coat fits me perfectly, couldn't be happier. I am 6'1", 178lbs thin and usually I wear a 38-40 long suit jacket. This medium size should fit about ~15-17 size neck, ~35-42 chest and waist and has sleeves long enough to come to my wrists on my longer size arms. Overall, a very comfortable coat, would make a nice chefs coat and works great for my costuming needs. Just be careful of the inaccurate description and sizing. 4Poor ventilation but solid materialClassic baggy fit. Poor ventilation but solidmaterial. Good for uniform-house coat in your kitchen. Good for price 3the small will probably fit like a size 8 or 10To the ladies perusing the chef coats- THESE ARE WAY TOO BIG. Unless you are a muscular or bigger woman, these will swallow you whole. If there was an extra small I might re-order, but as of now, I'm thinking of gifting these to a co-worker. Definitely a unisex coat (aka- if you're a woman, the small will probably fit like a size 8 or 10, that's my guess).I gave it a four because it arrived fast and the material is high quality. I wear an XL in everything and should have gotten a L in this. 5Not as pictured and discribed on AmazonNot as advertised, the listing is for a double button chef coat. The product I received is a "Chef Shirt" with no front flap. The plastic bag sticker says "chef coat" but the tag on the shirt says "chef shirt" so you can't tell until you unwrap it. I bought it as a gift for my son. He wants to wear it anyway, but this is not what I ordered. 1
