Customer Reviews

Due North studded ice and snow walkers are greatThese Due North studded ice and snow walkers , in the Oversized size, are the best ice walkers I've ever tried. If you have size 11 to 14 feet, these ice walkers will fit your shoes, and probably most boots. They stay on your shoes, unlike some other brands . Note that, although this company also lists a "large " size, the Oversized are larger. These are the second pair of this brand of ice walkers that I've owned. I bought the first pair three years ago, and they are still working fine , so they're made of good quality materials. Note, however, that you WILL want to order a size larger than the DueNorth chart shows. I also bought a " medium" size of these traction aids for my lady friend, who wears a size 9 ( US sizing) athletic shoe. According to the chart, the medium size should have fit her shoes. However, the mediums were far too small , and I had to order a " large" size for her shoes. The " large" size did fit her size 9 ( woman's sizes) athletic shoes just right. They're just tight enough that they stay on, but aren't too difficult to put on. Possibly , the " medium" size traction aids would have fit a size 9 in a woman's dress shoe, but not the bulkier athletic shoe. 5They are like studded tires for my feetI simply cannot imagine going through a winter with out these. They make my 50+ year old actions seem a lot younger, and stable. No more Tip toeing around the ice. I stride right across it without any problems, slips or falls. They are like studded tires for my feet. Great Job Due North. I have a spare set just in case the rubber gets old one day. PS... they even come with spare studs! Great Product. I highly reccomend. Young or old. No one likes to get hurt and these are your best defense from having that happen on the ice. 5OK BUT SIZING CHART IS WRONG. - ORDER LARGER THAN YOU THINK YOU SHOULDI can't give 5 stars here because the sizing is wrong. I should have read the other reviews before ordering. I take a mens size 13 and bought the Large which is correct according to product sizing. But too small. They were ok on my sneakers but when I put one on my slightly larger boot, the ankle strap broke. So a complete waste of money for me. Many other reviewers say the same thing. Otherwise I believe a pretty good product. The spikes coming out of the bottom are about 1/16 inch in diameter and flat at the end, which is much smaller than the yellow ones (5/32 inch) I see on other products which I also bought and will review. Prior to strap breaking this product did grip well on some slippery ice. My size 13 shoes/boots are about 13 -13.5 inches long. Tough to measure these things but the large version of this item is about 9.5 inches long. So that is a lot of stretching needed to get it on. 3Don't slip on ice, snow, and indoors! These devises totally work to keep you from slipping in ice and snow. They also do not slip when you are walking indoors like some other traction devises. I bought a different product recently and almost fell down about 12 times walking indoors. I had had these Due North Traction Aids before and never had this problem so I immediately ordered them again!! 5the Absolute best Ice Grip traction aidThese are absolutely the best ice-grips. The small-diameter super-hard carbon steel spikes easily penetrate ice and prevent slipping. That said, in deep soft snow or slippery deep slush you need to adjust your gait, don't pronate, ie.: use care. Deeply treaded boots are best for those conditions. These spikes are for hard-packed snow and ice. They are comfortable and effective. They fit a range of shoe and boot styles for a given size. Easy to put on and take off. They really grip. Wait until you are outside to put them on to save your floors from damage. 5Tough, short cleats but so-so rubber durability. The cleats are very durable but short. Good for lots of bare sidewalk with intermittent ice since it can take the abrasion of bare sidewalk. I use a different cleat if there is a quarter inch of snow on the ice. These cleats won't penetrate but the snow can still slide on the ice underneath. Like all of these rubber shoe cleats, it is the rubber that gives way first. My sense is that the stronger but more expensive version when compared to the cheaper version is about a wash in terms of cost. The more expensive one will last 1.5 North Dakota seasons, the other about one season (~75 time on and off). Takes a little practice to get on straight (so the support is not lopsided). Pulling the back on with two hands instead of one helps keep the rubber from tearing. 4Helps A Lot On IceVery helpful on frozen walks and pavement. They were literally a real lifesaver for me this winter. The only thing that made them 4 stars is the fact that they don t stay perfectly centered on my boots once I start walking. I wear a size 12 boot, so I got the extra large, which fits over them very well, and the next size down would definitely be way too small. I think it s just the way they are supposed to be since they have to fit so many different sizes. It might be a little difficult to get a really good fit for some sizes. 4Work great, large run a bit small...I have the oversized grippers for my sorel snow boots, fit well 11 size, and have had for 5 years+, but have been hiking ice covered trails with a smaller hiker so I put These on, they worked great as always, although a tad too big for the hiker, but stayed on the hiker, until sticks and branches got caught in the webbing around the boot because they are a bit too wide, and then pull off, so I ordered the large for a snuggger fit, and it is , I have an 11 hiking boot and I really have to stretch them to get them on the boot, even a pair of 11 tennis shoes was a stretch.so the lrg/extra lrg seems to run a bit small, but do fit, I would hate to try a size 13 , might be a struggle to fit. But have not gone hiking yet but as far as the cleats I like them a lot, still have the original tips on my oversized grippers and grip ice well, sometimes I wish there was 5-6 cleats on the front -vs- 4 but they seems to do alright ,you can order ones with extra cleats but it looks like in the photos it's 2 extra cleats on the heel, which seems not as effective than 2 more under the ball of the foot... 4These fit over a size 15 wide boot!I got these for my husband for use in ice, slush and wet snow. They seem to work just fine - he said he doesn't feel like he's skating to the office anymore. The main thing is they fit over his size 15 wide work boots without a bunch of drama and they don't slide off as he's walking over varied terrain (asphalt, dirt, etc) I will probably get him a second set as a back up since the true oversized sets are hard to come by. 5Safe and secure on the iceHave been wearing Due North all purpose cleats for years. Living in New Englandwhere it often gets very icy these have save me from falling. I recommend themto anyone that will listen.Only problem I have is that the smalls that are recommended for my women'ssize 7 boots are too small and the medium is a little too large. The mediumfit my neighbor's size 8 1/2 women's boots perfectly.Would not go out in the winter without then. 5
