Customer Reviews

Love it! Fits my size 7 3/4 XL head great.I have worn this beanie on my bald head religiously (figurative, as I don't know any religions that call for blue beanies!) since I received it. My first long ride with it was a 180-mile ride (yes, 180 miles in 1 day) in approximately 80-degree weather. Even with little wind, I never felt too hot wearing it. It protected my head nicely from the sun, as I had hoped, and it served the secondary purpose of keeping sweat out of my eyes. Since then, I have worn it a lot and washed it several times. It holds up great through the wash, and it looks and fits just like the day that I got it. I do not dry it in the dryer. I air dry it. Buy one and enjoy! 5Older versions fantastic. New one not so much. The latest edition of this previous great product is sad. The current version is the same as the older one except it is now "Super Duty" which means it is thicker in all areas including the sweat band portion of the cap which means double stitching for the band itself so there is stitching on the top and bottom of the band. (Think cord like stitching.) Now take that situation combined with the new beanie being smaller and it fits too tight on my head around the forehead and comes down too much on side bunching up at the ears. Consequently, when I take off the cap after a ride there is a circular groove in my skin that goes around my head so it looks for hours afterward like I have a scar from having the top of my skull removed. Ridiculous.I've "solved" the problem by using scissors to make multiple vertical cuts in the sweatband to lessen the tension. Naturally, the cap looks ridiculous all cut up! Fortunately, I only wear it when I'm wearing my helmet. Why they changed to this newer version is a mystery to me.Update July 30, 2018Thought I would try another one since the lengthy time had expired since I bought the last one. The same problem, (as noted by other reviewers), the seam stitching on the new "heavy duty" model leaves an indented skin crease across the top of the front of my shaved head, making it look like I was healing from having the top of my skull removed in surgery months before. It takes the crease several hours to dissipate. 2Best Gear I've Tried This SummerWanting to minimize stopping to wipe my face and forehead was the reason for the purchase. I did try some other products before arriving here.I was looking at the cooling head gear as well and would have been my next stop. Had this not worked so well for me.I live and ride in Las Vegas. That being said the summer here is brutal. I sweat allot in the summer. And as I said at the beginning I wanted to minimize my stopping to wipe my face time. I bought the white because of it's reflective quality in direct sun light.I have had this out in 123F this summer and can report that this thing just works. I think it has something to do with the tail. In that moisture tends to pull to the back where it's dried out. I have had sweat in my eyes on several occasions, during longer/hotter rides. But for the most part this has all but eliminated the need to stop.I very rarely give something a 5 star rating. But this thing has earned it.Highly recommend this 5I had an older headsweat beanie that I loved. I ordered this one and it doesnt have ...I had an older headsweat beanie that I loved. I ordered this one and it doesnt have the terry cloth piece across the forehead. With that said it doesn't hold in the sweat very good. In fact the bottom edge in front leaves a crease in my forehead. It's very uncomfortable to wear for any extended length of time. Personally I think it is a cheap imitation of headsweat brand and not the real thing. I cannot recommend this for anyone to buy. 2Keeps the sweat out of my eyes and glasses while riding my bike in the summerI have had one of the older headsweats shorty beanies that has the white terrycloth inner band. It has worked really well to keep the sweat out of my eyes when I ride in the mountains in the summer. I wanted to have a spare so I bought a new one. It's design is even better. Has an elastic in the back that helps it fit well for most any head size. The top is now less dense material than my previous model, so it is a bit cooler. Yet it still keeps the sweat out of my eyes and helps evaporate the sweat on those hot days. I think this is an excellent product. 5Never ride without oneKeeps the sweat out of my eyes and the sun off. No more checkerboard tan lines on my dome. I live in the deep south where we have extremely hot and humid conditions. I often pour water on my head on really hot days. I used bandanas before but they absorb too much moisture and get kind of steamy. This fabric on this works perfectly. The water goes right through and wicks off quickly and cools my neck as well. You can rinse and wring this one out during a rest break and it is good to go.5Great quality, but variable sizingBeen wearing these things for years - like 20 years - including this brand, which is one of my favorites. I have noticed that the size varies - sometimes it is a bit tight, sometimes right on, and one time it was really loose, but I think that one was meant to go over the tops of the ears, maybe. I have a small head, around 56cm/22in, so if you have a bigger head these might feel tight, but this recent one is one of the looser more comfy ones I have received. I do get a line on my forehead after wearing them, which lasts for about an hour, maybe, tops. I get this with all of them, pretty much, except the real loose ones. The problem of snugness seems to be pretty universal with these nylon skull caps - and I have probably 5 or 6 different brands, at least, that I have tried (many of those offered on Amazon). The Shorty has a terrycloth patch on the band over the forehead, which is quite comfy, and may offer some improved sweat blocking, but to be honest, the ones I have that lack this seem to work fine for me, including on long sweaty runs in heat and humidity. Btw, I use these all the time for all sorts of things - running, biking (under a helmet), marshall arts training, at the gym, and just walking/riding around town with the family. I took one star off, not for quality, but because the sizing varies more then it should - but this is over many years, several purchases, from, probably, various sellers. 4to perfect. It'seach one is a slightly different size, of about 6 i've ordered, one was so small I gave it to my 8 yr old. they rest fit from tight but works after you wear it a few times, to perfect. It's random4Great product, but a tad small.I use this for long distance running. It works great at keeping the sweat out of my eyes. My only gripe is that it runs a bit small. I have a shaved head with no hair to get in the way. And I wear a 7-1/4 inch cap. i can feel the pressure build up more and more, mile after mile. After ten or so miles I get home and take it off. It literally takes about two hours for the line to disappear from my forehead.I really want to give this product five stars but I had to stop wearing it due to the small size. 3Good productI never ride without one of these in the Summer. This works well to keep the sweat out of your eyes. These do make you sweat more as you are covering your head but that is to be expected.5Great at keeping the sweat out of your eyes and ...I purchased a few of these for my husband and he LOVES them. Great at keeping the sweat out of your eyes and it fits well under your bike helmet.5Best sweat band ever! This is the best sweat type band that I have ever had & I have been cycling since 1984! I though my Gutr was good but when my helmet sponges got loaded up with sweat in front the sweat would miss the Gutr & hit my glasses, but with the Headsweats Beanie the sweat stays in the beanie & wicks toward the tail in the back & I never get sweat on my glasses any more. I just used this on a 54 mile ride last Saturday in So Cal where it got up to 94', yes 94' on March 14, 2015 & not one drop of sweat got on my glasses or in my eyes. I just ordered two more one extra for myself & one as a gift for my cycling friend. The sweat band within the beanie is 1" wide all the way around to the tail in the back that helps pull the mouisture to the rear. This weekend I am going to try it under my snow ski helmet at Mammoth because of the warm spring like conditions. 5Keeps the sweat out of my eyes and the sun off my melonKeeps the sweat from rolling down my bald head and into my eyes. Wicks moisture away and keeps me cool while running in the hot sun. I wasn't sure about UV protection, but since I've worn it a few afternoons without putting sunscreen on my head and haven't gotten a burn, it appears it does keep the UV rays at bay. From a styling perspective, I could live without the "tail" in the back -- I assume it's supposed to make this look like it's a bandanna tied in the back -- and the large-ish logo near the front, but otherwise I have no complaints.5LOVE THE SHORTY BEANIES!I've been wearing these for about 10 years and I have about 10 of the Headsweats Shorty Beanies in various colors. They soak up the sweat and send it down the back tail where it drips, what a great idea! The 'Super Duty' is definitely an improvement from previously. I'd love for them to come out with a few camouflage colors (sand & green), these would sell like hotcakes at places like Bass Pro Shops & Cabelas. I've been making this suggestion for years but it keeps falling on deaf ears. Not everyone wearing these are bicyclists needing bright colors. NOTE TO HEAD-SWEATS: Time to start thinking outside the box! 5Works great - excellent for long rides!I think I sweat more than the average person & got tired of wiping my brow every few minutes on long bike rides. This cap pretty much took care of the problem. The inside front that goes against the forehead is very soft and absorbent. Overall fit was comfortable - snug, but not tight (I was able to pull it down lower with out taking my bike helmet off). I use the Headsweat visor while running for same reason, and it works great. Now I have the cap for biking, and it works equally as well! 5
