Customer Reviews

NEVER AGAIN...Buyer BewareI am so upset right now because the condition that these stones came in was horrible. I am utterly disgusted with the condition of these stones. They are not polished, they are chipped and broken, and they came with 28, many of the same poor quality and type. The only reason I am not returning both quantities of the two pounds I bought is because my daughter was giving them as a gift to one of her teachers who also does crystal healing massage therapy for cancer patients, unfortunately she may just be using them for decoration, if that. NEVER AGAIN... 1Will Buy Again! These are incredible!Received my package in three days time after ordering, a day before the projected delivery date. I'm using these gemstones for spiritual purposes, so when I received AT LEAST one of everything listed in the description I was thrilled! As I identified each stone, I wrote down how many of each I received. I purchased the three pound bag for close to $30 including shipping, and received a little over 200 stones (which was more than anticipated!).Out of all of the stones, only three were broken, which isn't bad. I had a sad little broken nephrite jade, carnelian and amethyst. Considering the grade of the rest of the stones, though, they were all in excellent shape. There were little to no dings or chips missing. All stones were as described, much bigger than my other stones but that's exactly what i wanted.I ended up with much more quartz than anything else, but I expected that. It's just the way it goes. :PAnyway! Here are my spoils of war, listed alphabetically below. I hope this helps anyone decide that this is definitely the purchase for them. I am very happy with my results.6 amethyst15 aventurine, green12 aventurine, red28 bronzite, small (most were under half an inch)12 carnelian11 chrysoprase21 citrine8 emerald1 hematite, large (the biggest stone i received at about 1.5")10 jasper, red11 jasper, yellow5 lapis lazuli10 obsidian12 quartz, blue5 quartz, clear23 quartz, milky white4 quartz, rose4 sodalite3 serpentine1 tourmalineand a small handful of rocks I have yet to identify :^) 5Best selection! In order to get a good feeling for this product, I also bought Hypnotic Gem Materials: 2 lb Small Brazillian stones.(In the picture, these stones are on the left, and the Hypnotic Gems are on the right.) This was definitely the superior product. There were a good deal of gems in the bag--about 50-60 stones total--and they were all in great condition. I think there was only one broken stone in the whole bag. There was also a good variety of stones, around 35 types! The Hypnotic Gems selection only had about 20. Although there were duplicates in both bags, I found the duplicates in this bag better, because they were more interesting and there was also a larger variety of stones to balance the duplicates. I am definitely going to buy more of these stones again, because they're just so nice! 5I was kind of disappointed. I ordered 3 pounds of the XXL and ...I was kind of disappointed. I ordered 3 pounds of the XXL and received 12. I have collected a lot of crystals, so I don t mind a few scratches. However, a few of these were way beyond a few scratches. I was super excited about the smokey quartz until I saw that it looked like it had been cracked and glued back together. I could be wrong, but it looks bad for a stone that is supposed to be tumbled. The carnelian and red jasper had small holes in them, which is unfortunate, but I can live with that. The sunstone, had such an odd texture. Almost as if plastic was melted over a rough texture. The amethyst also had a large crack in it. The smokey quartz and the sunstone were the most disappointing. With that being said, for the price it is still a good deal. I still got 7-8 big, good stones. Obviously I wish they had all been good condition though. 3DisappointedPros: The order arrived quickly and the stones are of a decent size variety. A few were less than an inch but I wouldn't complain about that since there were about 50 stones total. They were also generally very smooth.Cons: The descriptions says "Beautiful all natural stones" but at least half of the stones appear to be dyed agate and other dyed stones. In fact, I got a few natural stones but there was no amethyst or lapis as in the photo, and the stones that were not dull colors were dyed. Since I know what these other gemstones look and feel like, I wouldn't have ordered this at all if I had know that there were so many dyed stones. I noticed that some of the other Hypnotic Gems items are labeled as "natural and dyed" but this item was not so I expected actual undyed gemstones and this was a big disappointment. 2Good Basic MixThe stones arrived promptly, wrapped tightly in a sealed plastic pocket and bubble wrap.I got about 57 stones (my daughter may have kidnapped a couple!) of the following varieties;1 Possibly 2, Chrysoprase2 Bloodstones1 large, good quality Rose Quartz4 Cloudy pinkish stones, assuming some kind of quartz7 Amethyst/Ametrine (Amethyst with Citrine mixed in)2 Amethyst1 Dark/smoky quartz5 Other white/smoky quartz2 Milky Quartz1 Clear Quartz1 Hematite1 Orange Dotted Granite1 Grey Speckled Granite3 Petrified Wood1 Tigerseye1 Soladite4 Blue Quartz (This is an unregulated term, but in this case appears to mean Quartz with Soladite)3 Red Jasper3 Carijo Jasper1 green Kyanite?1 Purple Chalcedony?3 Aventurine - Green Quartz1 Zebra Jasper1 Black/Brown streaked Other Jasper?1 Something yellow and opaque and striped. Aragonite?1 Something Pure Black1 Unknown white rock (not quartz) Flamingo Jasper?1 Something Brown and Shiny with quartz size crystals underneath1 AgateAs you can tell I am NOT a professional at identifying semi precious stones! However, I hope this gives you an idea of what stones to expect in this mix. One thing I know for sure is that the stones in my mix were NOT limited to the ones given in the description above! I will update this list if I find out any more. If you are looking for particularly pretty or striking stones, this is probably not for you. However, if you are looking to perhaps use crystals for various enhancements or healing, or a mix for learning how to identify gemstones, this is perfect starter "kit."I also uploaded a photo of my stones.Finding out which semi precious stones are common from Brazil helped me identify these. I imagine that is what you can expect from all these mixes, as Brazil is where they are coming from. 4Great stones for beginning collectors! My stones are gorgeous, all 36 of them! They arrived promptly, and as shown--a very beautiful variety of shapes and colors. There's about five of them that aren't 100% smooth, just as an FYI. I washed them with sea salt to neutralize their energy and I'm keeping them in the window to "charge" them with some solar/lunar energy. I'll be using my stones for metaphysical/healing purposes. My only dilemma is to identify each stone! I know I have some quartz: a couple of rose, a couple of smoky, but as for the rest? I've been looking at charts and YouTube videos to get some help! LOLEDIT 3/15/14: As I'm a bit more versed in identifying tumbled gemstones and their quality, I wanted to amend this review to better describe my shipment. The stones I received were mostly of "B" quality (very slight inner cracks, at least 30% opaque). None of the pieces were chipped. A few of them were of a higher quality. What you see in the photograph is most likely what you'll get. My batch consisted of mostly quartz (2-4 apiece): green, blue (mistaken for sodalite), white, amethyst, clear, smoky, and rose. I also received about 4 pieces of red jasper, 4-5 striped brown jasper, 1 yellow jasper, 2-3 carnelian, and 3 black tourmaline.Another good thing about these pieces is that they're fairly large, ranging from 3/4" to 1 1/2" in diameter. Depending on the stone, you could spend anywhere from $1.50 to $7 on a single piece of a comparable size. For anyone new to collecting or using them for metaphysical purposes, you'll be happy with these! I still use these stones on a semi-regular basis for meditation/chakra balancing, and I try to charge them using sunlight/moonlight from time to time. I will no longer cleanse them with water, as I feel that sage is better to use than water or sea salt. Approximately 36 natural stones for about $15 is a very good bargain, and I' m glad I began my collection with this lot, honestly. 5Disappointing VarietyDisappointing Variety: This order contained 34 stones in a 3lb order. 16 of the 34 were quartz. Most of those were nearly identical milky quartz and none were colored enough to call Rose Quartz, Amethyst, or anything interesting. As this was a combined Christmas gift for my daughter and niece while I was traveling, returning it was impractical. The two 3-year-olds complained about how so many of the stones looked the same, but were very happy with the remaining 18. I personally feel I should get 16/34ths of my money back, or about $13.Amazon gives you the run around between several FAQ websites when you try to contact the seller. After 4+ separate attempts, I gave up. Ebay is much easier to contact the seller on and find resolutions. 2Definitely XXL Stones / Nice VarietyThese stones are definitely large and there is a nice assortment of them as well. Clearly no duplicates and one of the stones is gigantic. Would definitely order more from this seller. I might order the same set and see if there are more varieties available to add to this collection. Picture below is the assortment I got... 5Some Nice Specimens, but Waaaay too Many Duplicates--Good Thing I Love Red Jasper, because I Got Seven of 'EmI was initially very disappointed with this set. Some of the stones were definitely not among the listed mix, but they weren't bad specimens--the moonstone( (again, not on the list) is actually a nice piece. The biggest issues I have are as follows.First, the quality of the tumbling finish is uneven. Some are beautiful; a few look like they came from somebody's garden landscaping. Mostly, the tumbling is fine. As is true with the stones. There are a few stones in this set that took me hours to figure out, and I operate a crystal and stone business myself. The Amethyst, Citrine, Quartz, and Red Jasper were all nice stones. The other problem is with those Red Jasper. They are all gorgeous. Each of the SEVEN of the Red Jaspers is lovely. However, again, there were seven of them. This order 'only came with 42 stones. In addition to the seven Red Jasper. I had three Amethyst, three Quartz, three Citrine, three Aventurine, and three Dalmatian Stone, totaling 22 out of 42. That's over half of the total from six types of stone. Obviously, a little more variety would've been appreciated. As far as the hand-picking process...It didn't seem to work so well, in my order, at least. The finish on the Quartz family stones (quartz, amethyst, & citrine) were nice. The Aventurine were a little lumpy and uneven, but the Red Jaspers are all gorgeous. Pity I didn't just need Red Jasper. My order could have been an anomaly. I've ordered from this company before via Amazon, and I can't recall any major disappointments, so as they say, "your mileage may vary."(note: I wrote a rather scathing review yesterday. Today, upon reexamining these stones, I see that I was way overblown in my criticism. I'm actually keeping the set now, although I'll definitely order Medium next time--these things are massive. So I'm revising and amending my review, and removing the uncallled-for shredding and insulting sarcasm. Mea culpa, y'all (as we say in the South ;-) )) 3
