Customer Reviews

Well made and full of nice detailsAdding to the chorus of great reviews here. I first saw this suit on another site that is known for well-made (and accordingly priced) kids' costumes. I came to Amazon to see if I could find something similar and was delighted to find the exact same one. It arrived quickly and is very well made and designed. The metal claps are a very nice touch that you don't see on the more economical costumes and the material is a nice medium/heavy weight cotton. The sleeves have a ribbed knit cuff that is extra nice because it has a thumbhole and is made to extend down and partially cover/warm the hand. The reflectors are real and so that's actually a nice inadvertent safety feature for night-time trick-or-treating. There have been a lot of questions about the helmet, and I can confirm that my costume did indeed come with the black fire chief helmet shown in the picture. It's the same one that is available separately, here: https://www.amazon.com/Aeromax-Firefighter-Helmet-Black-Adjustable/dp/B0033MIVBW/ref=ya_st_pd_dx_bx_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0033MIVBW&pd_rd_r=68ed80bd-af1c-11e7-9025-3905e73aed56&pd_rd_w=ED2Ik&pd_rd_wg=16xKI&psc=1&refRID=9AV5MV7NQ80KFV4MNXCM.I got the size 2/3 and it fits my tall (75th percentile) skinny (30th percentile) almost 3 year old (she'll be 3 at the end of November) perfectly with a little room to grow. I'd say this would definitely run large for a 2 year old, but if your child is higher on the weight percentile, then that might work okay. The suspenders allow for a wide range of heights, but the sleeves of the coat are of course fixed, so they'll probably fit a taller child within this age range better.I am absolutely jazzed about this purchase and look forward to taking her down to the local fire station at the end of our street for their annual Halloween event for kids. I would highly recommend this costume to anyone. If I had one critique it would not about the costume itself but the marketing. Girls should be also shown wearing these costumes that are more traditionally marketed to boys because FFS it's 2017 and the conversation has changed, the world has evolved, and dammit my girl doesn't need to be told that she should only aspire to be mere a damsel princess in distress, but given role models that show that she can be empowered to be a strong person in her own right and save herself and others. I'll get off my soapbox now, but the other site did show this costume with an older girl sporting it and I was stoked to see companies starting to break out of the traditional boy/girl separation mentality. All in all, love this costume. Totally worth the splurge. 5Priced as quality...fails to deliverAfter much discussion with the vendor, my family is disappointed to find that the vendor, Future Memories Inc., refuses to warranty the product. The product was purchased more than a month before Christmas for my 5 year-old son. By the time he got it over Christmas, it was beyond the company's "return" policy. While we loved the look of the gear, the zipper failed in just a few uses. When approached about charging a quality price ($50) but not delivering quality, the company hid behind their return policy, as if we changed our mind on style or something. We'd love the product...if only it was usable. We are saddened now that my son is embarrassed to wear the gear around the fire hall with the guys because his doesn't zip up like their's does. The rating scores are low in every category on this product because... The toy would have been fun and educational if he could have actually worn it. The durability is really a HUGE zero. Given that durability prevents the toy's actual use, and that we paid 50 bucks for it, the overall rating is poor. If there was a category for service, it would be just as low. Once we found that the company didn't misunderstand that we had a defect, that they just actually refused to acknowledge it, we realized that we had been taken for a ride. Spare yourself the heartache, the money, and the tears of your child. If you want this level of quality, be sure to only pay "costume" price. If you want durability, quality, and service, suitable to wear around your local fire hall and play in all day...., then find another vendor. Save yourself. 1Great, realistic suitI was afraid this outfit would be one of those times where the actual product did not live up to the hype. I purchased this for my 2 year old for a halloween costume and had the intention of keeping it for dress up.Upon opening the package I was immediately impressed. It's made of thick, good quality fabric and appears to be stitched well. The detail is amazing. Even the included hat is quality made with the ability to adjust for size. This is the closest thing you will find in kids dress up to the real deal. My son wore this to a tour of the local firehouse and the firemen there were impressed. Two issues that came up a lot in previous reviews is size and the zipper.1. The zipper is pretty cheap for some reason and has gotten misaligned a couple times. I have to take extra care when zipping and I can see myself replacing it in the future. The clips, however, work great and I usually just do those instead of the zipper. Most of the time my son doesn't want to be zipped up anyways. If I had to find one thing negative about the costume that would be it but I feel its so minor compared to everything else. The only reason I even mention it was the other reviews had me doubting and Im so glad I went ahead and purchased anyways.2. Sizing: I have a large two year old. He's about 35 pounds and wearing some 3t and mostly 4t clothes. The size 2/3 was perfect for him. We rolled the pants just a bit when not wearing shoes or to show off the fireboots we bought (look for fireman rainboots. They are adorable and go perfectly with this outfit) The jacket has plenty of room and I see him getting another year or two out of this size.In summary, I'm glad I purchased this and will look into getting some of the other costumes by this company. They are worth the price tag and will hold up to heavy use. 5The best Fire Fighter suit you can buy! This was hands-down the best costume purchase we have ever made.We needed a costume for our 3 year old son who wanted to be a fire fighter (just like his Grandfather) for Halloween. It was important to him, and also important to us, that we find a good quality costume. Plus, his sister loves to dress up and we thought it would be a nice change for him to have a costume or two as well.We could not have been more pleased with this... Well to call it a costume does it a disservice. This is a mini Fire Fighter suit! The fabric is tough and durable. Tick, but not too heavy for little bodies. The pants are a bit long, but the attached (red!) suspenders can be adjusted for a shorter length and fit, plus they have velcro straps to shorten the waist. The jacket is awesome. The zipper is higher quality than some high-end jackets I own, with brass clasps that keep the jacket in place. The clasps are almost too good, as they need adult hands to get them off, but the attention to detail made my son smile even wider! The reflective strips are the real deal. How is the helmet? It's a solid piece of hard plastic. To give context, many fire stations provide a nice, but cheap plastic helmet. My son loved his! But this helmet is 10 times as strong. It's not heavy, but solidly build to withstand playtime abuse. Plus, the helmet can be adjusted for a snug fit.(Yes, I understand this is not suitable for an actual fire, but it's really, really nice)Out of all the costumes we have bought for our children, including LOTS of dresses for our daughter, this outfit is far and away the best made we own. Our son will outgrow this outfit before it tears, and for a boy that says an awful lot!You will not be disappointed. 5Bummed about how they process returns!I will update this review when I recieve a redund so I can re-purchase this item. I bought this for my Son for his birthday and he was ecstatic about it as his old one we got from a garage sale about two years ago (not this brand) was way to small on him now. He immediately put it on in the middle of his party and we found that the very first clasp on the jacket was broken off so the jacket was not able to be closed all the way. We were all very bummed. We were also bummed to find out that we had to return it and wait 2-3 days for a refund (which will be more like 5-6 days without it as they won't refund the money until after they receive the item back). Than I have to re-order it (another 2-4 days). Talk about a bummed out kid AND parents!!! However! I was impressed with the overall quality of the item and the materials. The hat was a heavier duty than a normal plastic one you would get at a toy store like walmart or target and the actual fireman outfit itself is great heavy duty material. I will be re-purchasing this item from them when I get my refund. 2Our 2nd pair- a bigger size- LOVE THESEMy son has been in love with fire engines and fire fighting since he was little! We actually purchased the 4/6 size when he was 3 and he has been wearing that one until he finally out grew it so I got him this one. He wears this for everything! As a snow suit, he wore it at 6 when he was determined to go an Airsoft party with a neighbor (he was absolutely protected! He was feeling NO pain, they said he was the most brutal force out there! lol) he even wore it this summer to go play paint ball with the same neighbor. It is a light weight canvas, and it washes beautifully! After all the ways he found to use his first pair (same brand, same company!) I was wondering if the larger size would be made as well- And it is! :)He will be wearing this pair for quite some time- he is very excited that he doesn't have to lose his fire coveralls! Thanks! For anyone wondering- the 8/10 pair does have the pants (overalls) with the very nice, stretchy red suspender/overall straps. Nice brass clips on the jacket, and the sewn on reflective stripes. 5Quality outfit. Very realistic!I would give this a 5 star review but it didn't come with the helmet that is clearly listed in the title AND on the tag that was attached to the jacket. It came with a flat red baseball cap. Thankfully I called Amazon customer service and they got a helmet in the mail right away!I read lots of reviews before deciding on size. My son is 33m, 32lb and right at 36". He wears 2t/3t in normal clothes. (I found I kept looking for this specific info in reviews because just saying "it fit my kid" with no specifics didn't help much!) So, I'd say he's pretty average to smaller. He's always been smaller but seems to be catching up since his 2t jeans are getting a bit short, but his 3t ones are a bit long in some pairs. Now on to this outfit. I LOVE IT! It is so cute and well made. It is actually a canvas/khaki/twill (I'm really not sure but it's pretty heavy) material and seams are finished well. It has a heavy metal zipper on the jacket and metal hooks on the front flap. The bib overalls have thick, stretchy suspenders that adjust quite a bit, with metal latches. As far as fit goes, from what I had read, it would be a little big. I wouldn't necessarily say it's big but he does have some growing room. The suspenders are up so much that the split in the back is right below his neck so he has lots of growing room there but the length doesn't seem way off. He tried it on with his chucks and it wasn't dragging, so that was good. There are also a couple Velcro strips on the sides at the waist to take it in or let it out a bit. It's not much, but maybe an inch combined. Could be more if the Velcro went further down the fabric adjuster strip. We also ordered the black fireman boots to go with the uniform and I'm sure they will look perfect! The jacket is nice in that I think he will be able to wear it as a light jacket this fall and next spring. It's not lined so it's just as thick as the canvas material but it's definitely not a cheapo throw away costume! The sleeves might be a tad bit long for him but I'd say they are 3t pretty accurately. They have a cloth cuff inside the sleeve to help keep it in the right position and it also has a thumb hole, I assume like a real uniform, so it won't ride up with gloves on.I'd say this is pretty accurately a 3t, maybe a tad roomier, sized uniform.I thought this was an expensive costume but I'm betting it will be a nice investment for our son. He will be 3y in January and we are planning a fireman/fire truck birthday! This will be perfect for him to wear then too!I would like to add that he was wanting to "touch a fire truck" so I took him over to the fire station. They had just pulled one of the trucks out and invited him to come take a tour! He was in heaven! The firemen were also very impressed with his toddler turnouts and even took his picture. They pulled theirs out to show him and they were almost the same. Different materials of course, but the design was very similar! The helmet in the pics was one that Amazon sent us to fill the order of the missing helmet. It was about $9 and has a built in light and siren. It also has the adjustable piece inside to make it fit toddlers easily. 4Worth the coin! The suit isn't exactly the same as pictured but its pretty close. They're no metal clasps on the front of the suit and the collar is tan color, not black. It zips closed as well as has velcro on the flaps in three places. The quality is good except I have one velcro piece that needs to be sewn back on. The helmet is also very nice as most others you would find are just one size and you hope your kids head fits it, not this one! This one has an adjustable band inside for a custom fit, very nice addition as it keeps from having the dreaded sliding helmet battle. Our 4yr old is 35lbs and is around 3.5 foot tall and the 2/3 size fit perfectly. Thank goodness I didn't buy the 4/5 size! (thanks amazon reviewers!) This is a very nice quality costume its not one of the cheap ones you'd get at a big box store, this is worth the coin in my book as its made of durable materials and I'm sure this will be passed on to another little one when he out grows it. Definitely worth the money if you little guy wants to be a firefighter! 4Would not hesitate on buying this!!!Just received this Firemans costume in size 2/3. Fantastic product - the quality is superior! It's so well made and numerous details that are perfect. Can you tell, I'm extremely happy with this costume. I know it will be great at night; the reflectors (and there are several) are very bright. It has knit hand warmer attached with hole for thumb in case it's cold; suspenders are long and adjustable; Velcro tabs on sides of waist so overalls fit well; brass looking metal hooks; usable pockets; hard helmet that adjusts. The material is a heavy canvas/cotton; not wafer thin like the ones I've seen in stores. And it looks so authentic. All-in-all a great purchase. Yes it's pricier than most but I think it's worth it. Child will get at least two seasons from this. 510 STARS!!!I ordered this firefighter suit for my 5-year-old grandson, who is obsessed with dress-up play. He has another firefighter "costume" that he has outgrown. I put "costume" in quotes, because that was what it is. THIS, however, is the real thing. There is nothing "costumy" about it. Honestly, I don't write very many reviews, primarily due to time constraints. I felt compelled to make time to review this particular purchase, because it is absolutely outstanding. I was stunned, as was my husband, at the quality of this suit. It appears it will hold up for a very, very long time, and I know younger brother who is now 2 will be able to use it as well. I ordered the 6/8. My grandson is wearing a size 7 now, and there is plenty of growing room. I haven't given it to him yet to try on, so I can't give you exact feedback in that regard. It does appear that the pants are quite long, but there are the red suspenders (very, very nice quality!) that will help with that issue. If I have to tack up the pants for now, that's an easy fix. I always wash everything before wearing, and this was no exception. I hand-washed it in cold water, and it came out beautifully. There was no dye left in the water, and I placed it wet in an old towel to soak up excess water before hanging it up to dry. The towel happened to be white, and there was no dye transfer whatsoever. This is the real deal, and don't think twice about buying it. 5
