Customer Reviews

A pretty cool and unique belt.I hate wearing belts, but losing weight has forced me to get re-acquainted with them. I started searching for alternatives to the traditional belt, and really wanted something that lacked a buckle, and more importantly, the excess "tail".I discovered a series of belts designed for mechanics and other folks where buckles become a liability, and eventually stumbled upon the Loopbelt. Not only is it plain and simple, it's also attractively priced.I was a little concerned that the velcro wouldn't hold well, but I've been quite impressed with how well it works. It's yet to slip, or come undone on it's own, or get hooked on something, it just works. An added bonus is that it works no matter how you put it on.I'd have given it a full 5 stars but for 2 minor issues:- the velcro seems too stiff, and wrinkles near the stitching holding it to the nylon. Performance doesn't appear to be affected, but it makes it look "cheap" or poorly made- the exposed velcro takes some getting used to. Unlike most velco, the "loop" side isn't very soft, it feels closed to having 2 "hook" surfaces. No matter how you thread the belt, there's usually an exposed section, depending on your girth and size of belt. I find my arms occasionally brushing against it. It's not uncomfortable, but I wish it was either softer, or had a means of covering the exposed velcro. 4Comfortable but flawedI absolutely love this belt, it's super comfortable. It doesn't have anything hard that digs into my skin, which I really like. However, the reason it only gets 3 stars is the quality. Within the first week or two of use the hook and loop staterd separating from the webbing. For the price it's not a big deal, and it seems the separating has haltes for the moment. Time will tell but I will probably buy it again when this one ultimately fails. 3I like these a lotI bought two of these, because I have this reaction to nickel belt buckles. I like these a lot. There's a bit of a learning curve with cinching them tight, but it's nothing major, AND I can undo these bad boys very quickly so the risk of pooping my pants is severely mitigated in a diarrhea situation. Very nice functional belt, really. If you need something to wear to the Oscars or to impress your boss, this won't do, unless your boss is used to you wearing no belt at all and having your pants drop and your genitals showing for all to see. This belt is, in such a case, a promotion guarantee. Note that I am not personally guaranteeing you a raise if you buy this. I'm just saying it's better than having your ass crack showing at work. 4Great BeltIn the past, I found belts were a necessary evil because they often have huge buckles that can not only scratch other surfaces, but dig into my stomach or get too tight when sitting. In addition, you limited to a pre-determined set of holes in the belt to find your comfort zone. I tried one of those ratcheting buckle belts and it wasn't at all as comfortable as the Loopbelt and broke after a year. This item changes all of that. It has no buckle and can be easily adjusted in seconds whenever needed. The hook and loop catches really do hold securely and almost make me forget that the belt is even there. I agree with most that they run true to size or slightly large so if you have a 40 inch waist, the L 40-44 is the way to go. 5This is the best alternative to buckle belts out thereThis is the best alternative to buckle belts out there. Hands down.As a more portly gentlemen, regular belts tend dig in and hurt my skin throughout a day of sitting at my desk or moving around. This belt takes away almost all of that discomfort. There is still a problem when sitting for extended periods of time but nowhere else besides that. The belt for me gets perfectly tight enough and when it is new it holds its grip very well. I had bought one and used my first one for a few months with no issues. I accidentally put it through the wash though and that was the end of that as it couldn't hold anymore. So just don't put it through the wash!!I'm at about 52 waist and this one fits me fine and I feel it would even work for guys just slightly above that. Sure it's a little weird to go in the bathroom and hear *scriiipp* of velcro but eventually you don't worry about that as your more comfortable than everyone else out there. I will be a buyer of this belt for life. I prefer it over buckle belts and suspenders for sure. 5It's still an amazing belt, just about the only belt that fits ...I ordered a size 48-52, got a 42-46 delivered. It's still an amazing belt, just about the only belt that fits right with dickies tunnel belt loops.Hopefully it last a long time the Velcro is different, it's got hooks and loops on both sides so it doesn't really matter which way you put it on, and looping it over a belt loop with the Velcro means the belt doesn't slide around at all. 3Not happy.I don't know what "HOOK AND LOOP FASTENERS" are but only the belt came. It was flimsy like a strap on a cheap dog leash. As a belt I was expecting it to be thicker, not a strap, but I decided to give it a chance... If the "hook and loop fasteners" were the little tips at the end of the Belt, then it's misleading. If not.. Then I'm missing pieces. Good thing: It fits right but it is not as strong as other ratings have made it out to be. It has popped on me twice already. Once while I was carrying a pan of ribs from the smoker at a memorial for someone we lost. It was embarrassing to had to holler for my friend to hold the pan while my pants were falling down. It is uncomfortable because of the velcro scratching my skin. I will stick to the other brand (leather) even if it does stretch out after 3 months. I'm sorry. I don't like to give low reviews, but I have to rely on the truth about my experiences. Not right for me.ThanksTL. 2Everyone Should have one!The original is better than the deluxe! Thinner, lighter and less stiff. The "rubber" coating on the ends is not grippy or obtrusive in any way. If you are having trouble deciding what version to get, go with the original Loopbelt. This is such a simple product there really isn't a whole lot to talk about.I actually bought the deluxe first because when my cell phone is in my hoodie pocket the screen would hit my belt buckle. I also work on my car a lot and this is cheap insurance for both situations. The velcro is fairly traditional with the exception that you have both "sides" of the velcro in one. The hook and loops are on both strips, so you can actually adhere one side to itself. This comes in handy if you have to undo the belt to use the bathroom as you can keep the ends out of your way. It is traditionally loud ripping velcro, though. Don't expect silent operation. The remaining bit of velcro strip that is not used will catch on some clothing. Mainly the stitching around the bottom of shirts as the threads catch on the hooks of the velcro. It's not a chronic issue but it happens occasionally. The velcro holds VERY strong. You can make it overly tight and try to push your gut out all you want, it's not gonna budge. You won't hear velcro ripping sounds throughout the day unless the end gets pulled.Great belt, i wear it every day. 5Does what it promises for not much money.I bought this to wear under my backpack waist belt, where a belt buckle is inconvenient at best or painful at worst (I wish someone made good hiking pants with a drawstring waist and 36" inseam). I found that it works best under my pack waist belt if I fasten the belt, then slide the overlapped section around to the back where it can lay flat and isn't under the pack buckle. Bonus: since the size is basically infinitely adjustable within its range, it still fits perfectly even after you lose a couple pounds on the trail. The belt is very flexible and lacks stiffness, so you can't hang much more from it than a knife or it will want to roll over. It works well for what it's meant to be, and at this price, how could you go wrong? It is a little trickier to put on than a normal belt w/ buckle, depending on where you fall in the size range. If you need to overlap the entire fastener strip like I do, it won't all fit between belt loops, so you have to fasten about half of it, then slide the belt around and fasten the rest (or you could just fasten it over a belt loop I suppose). I got a medium, and have about a 33" waist. This is perfect, because it means the full 9" of hook and loop overlaps itself, and none of it is exposed. As others have mentioned, it isn't the softest stuff in the world, and I think I would find it annoying if it were exposed and my arm was brushing against it. It would also tend to snag on other Velcro or the sorts of fabric you wouldn't want to come into contact with Velcro (like the mesh bag for my Anker battery pack). So buyer beware, this could probably ruin a nice sweater in a hurry, but on the other hand, why would you be wearing a nice sweater with this belt? Someone mentioned that the belt wanted to pucker a little where the hook and loop was sewn on, mine did that at first but seems to cure itself after some use. 4A little over a month and it's worn outI received this belt almost exactly a month ago, I've worn it almost every day since and it's already begun to fail. The Velcro (or whatever they want to call it) barely holds on anymore and every time I bend over too far it comes loose. I'm an auto mechanic so I'm always bending over, squatting down, climbing up, lying down, sitting up and generally moving around so I need a belt that holds on while I move and won't scratch cars. It's a good idea and worked great at first but quickly turned into more garbage. 1
