Beautiful Shemagh!I bought the foliage color and I do love it. Looks heavy in the pic on amazon, but it's not as thick as it appears. Maybe a little thicker than the average ones one here. Reason for 4 stars, is that I wish it were 47X47. Other than that, I love it. Have not hand washed it yet, so will see how color holds up. 4Nice Solid ShemaghThis is a nice, full sized Shemagh scarf. I like them for travel and backpacking and for car kits. They are basically like the desert ones... Full sized, fairly thin, woven and knotted at the end. I LOVE the solid colors as they are a little less "terroristy" than the patterned kind, and will probably freak people out less, but are no less functional. They work well as a light scarf, head wrap, bug net, neck protector, etc... and are large enough to wrap well. They are pretty thin though, and aren't really for true winter cold, but work well in warm areas and to protect you from a light chill. 4This product was poorly manufactured. I've bought other Rothco ...This product was poorly manufactured. I've bought other Rothco items and they have all been crafted well, this being the exception. The woven material was not tightly woven and the threads were pulled apart in the pattern 1Exactly the Scarf I Was Looking ForThis scarf has that scrunchy, wrap-around feel I was hoping for. The cloth is thin, but doubles over nicely and provides a lot of warmth and protection. I wear it twisted and knotted and it looks and feels great. No complaints at all. Well worth it. Great color too--works with most browns, tans and blacks. Adds a very nice punch to my usually bland wardrobe. Haven't tried to wash it yet. Not sure I will, since the fabric may be too thin to sustain more than a light wash and air-dry.PROS:--Light and foldable--Good color--Excellent feel--Good lengthCONS:--Fabric may be too light to wash in machine--Could have durability issues (but none have appeared yet)Overall, a good product. I'm very happy with it. 5Hoping its neutral as far ideological goes.I just received my Shemagh- from Rothco. The Shemagh is made in India, and giving it the once over, I can find any major issue with it. I bought this one in a gray pattern as I hoping its neutral as far ideological goes. Any one that has seen how to use one on U-Tube, there is one other I don t think they have shown. You are laying in your bed and the light in the room is getting brighter and you are not ready to get up, the Shemagh make a dandy eye cover as it fairly light. 5A must to haveThe product is what it claim to be, however for me it seen to be a little small. I will be taking it with me in a few week as we travel through Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming. We plan to do some hiking while we are there. It will become part of my emergency pack. I am 6'1 with a larger than normal head. Wrapping it around my head, mouth and around my neck appear to be a little tight. But a Shemagh is a definite a must to have with you. 4Very high quality and useful. Seems to be well made and with the ...Very high quality and useful. Seems to be well made and with the proper weave (loose, but not TOO loose) for a shemagh. I have washed it twice with no significant shrinkage (if at all), and the color is still all there. I got the grey color and it has been very useful for shielding myself from the sun when outdoors and at outdoor events. It is low-observable while also being light enough not to get hot in the sun. Good size too. Highly recommend it for survival kit, fishing, outdoor events and the like. 5I think these are better quality than the ones made in the Hirbawi factoryOkay, so this review is a little long but I think it's worth reading for those who are interested.Honestly, I think these are better quality than the ones made in the Hirbawi factory. They're noticeably softer and a thicker weave. It's no stranger to pulled threads, but for the price I'm okay with it. It doesn't look like they will be hard to repair (cut the loose thread at the mid point and tie a square knot. Cut off remainder of thread). I wasn't being especially careful with my Foliage one but it's far from ruined. In fact, it appears to be much more durable than my Hirbawi shemagh, which costs about $25.For those who don't know, the Hirbawi factory is supposedly the last authentic maker of these scarves in Palestine. I only say supposedly because the culture behind these scarves seems fairly nuanced and I by no means have all the information. Are they the only authentic maker in the world or just Palestine? Are they only authentic if they are made in Palestine? What does authentic even mean? Are there no factories in the UAE making these? Turkey? Does every Muslim own one from Hirbawi? As far as I can tell, the rest are made in India, China, or Pakistan. From what I have gathered, these Rothco shemaghs are made in India.I figured I'd try out a Hirbawi shemagh because I assumed it would be the highest quality product. While their scarves are absolutely beautiful, I swear every time I take a close look at mine I see more and more threads that had gotten pulled out. And I've been very careful with it, which to be honest is not something I want to worry about, especially at $25 from an authentic factory. The threads on that one are very thin and the weave seems rather loose, which is odd because on the amazon description it says 'heaviest weave on the market' or something to that extent. I would understand it if it was intentionally light. Palestine gets pretty hot, it would make sense that the authentic Palestinian shemagh is thinner and lighter. But then why advertise that they are the heaviest? They clearly are not. That being said, I live in an area where temperature ranges from 9-112 degrees Fahrenheit. And a single Hirbawi scarf just doesn't do the job in the cold for me. I can get my neck covered pretty well, but if I need to cover my face, neither area is effectively warm. I'd have to double up. But at $25, I can't really afford to do that, especially if I'm unsure of their quality. I am all for supporting a last remaining manufacturer of authentic products, but that's difficult when the higher price doesn't really pay off. I still wear mine because it is gorgeous, and part of my reason for wearing these is to show solidarity to Muslims. Frankly, I feel a little guilty wearing my Rothcos. But I wonder, does every Muslim who wears a shemagh own one from Hirbawi? Or are some them sporting Rothcos?ANYWAY, back to the Rothco. Good product. Would recommend. Will buy again. Don't machine wash it. Hand wash cold, gently. For really cold weather, these can do pretty well, especially if you fold it up a few times. But at these prices, I think it's worth getting two for extra layering. I'd like a couple more with the chequered pattern.I originally got two solid colored ones because someone at work took issue with my white and blue chequered one (it can happen, like I said the culture behind these scarves is pretty complicated). It was a short interaction and I don't know if the guy was just ignorant, was Muslim and took offence at some white kid wearing one, or perhaps he was Israeli and I was wearing the national symbol of pride for the nation that his people have been at war with for thousands of years. I walked away because it was early in the mourning and I was not in the mood for a geopolitical debate. Be aware that situations like this can happen if you wear a shemagh. But it's a lot less likely with a solid colored one. 4Top value ShemaghI fold it diagonally and wear it over my shoulders like an old man. It's just right to keep off a bit of chill. Fold it up and keep it in the Man Bag just incase......sling, dew rag, whatever. Although it wasn't needed I washed it a few times to soften it up. 5Awesome for hunting or camping in cooler weatherTactical scarves have many different uses and can be used for a lot of different situations. They aid in covering the head, face and neck from sun exposure and help keep dust away from the mouth and nose. They are perfectly suitable for hiking/backpacking, day events, hunting, and overall a great survival tool. Unlimited uses for this thing really. Other than wrapping around your head/neck, you can wipe things with it, make a first aid splint tie with it, make a small sling, and much more. I live in an area with two seasons: Summer and February. So I can't wait till it cools down and I can use this more freely here or I get to hunt somewhere else. This color goes well with my tan condor loadout. Easy to wrap around neck/face, keeps me warm in the winter. Fold corner to opposite corner to form a triangle, then take the widest part and fold 2 inches down twice. Then wrap it around your neck/face and secure with a loose box knot.Pros:-Huge! Allows you to wrap it how you like. Can go with your eyes only being exposed, wear as a scarf, do-rag, bandana.-Good value-Excellent color and design-comfy-washable-Warm-If you go to places that require ear protection and you do not have it, you might be able to get away with it by wearing this around the head.Cons:None about the scarf itself. However, be warned, if using cheap goggles and you have this wrapped around the mouth, fogging will intensify. 5
