Customer Reviews

Buy 100% Wool Liners Elsewhere For Less.If you are looking at this product it is because of one of two things: 1) You have Smartwool socks and you trust them with your money 2) You are looking for a quality pair of wool liners and you've heard good things about Smartwool. Well, I suggest just buying some $7 100% wool gloves found elsewhere on Amazon. These gloves, while good looking, are not warm and hardly even wool (not really a big deal, not why all of you came here but the warm part probably caught your attention). The body of the glove is 48% wool where the fingers are essentially all polyester leaving these gloves essentially ineffective on their own. Wind goes through em and heat escapes faster than water through a net. I've paired them with a few other pairs of gloves utilizing them as liners and they work OK at best. The bottom line is that you can get better gloves at a fraction of the price. I'd return mine but I am a compulsive label cutter ... 2Good enough for 5 stars.I chose "fit as expected". I ordered size M without actually measuring my hand. It's a snug fit, though I wouldn't call it "too small" or even "somewhat small". I think it's just about the way a glove is supposed to fit. Nice and snug. Thin material as expected, and provides sufficient warmth that corresponds to that expectation. The fabric does "pill" when it comes in contact with velcro (which is pretty frequent, given I'm using these with other outerwear, much of which has velcro), but I don't find the pilling to have much of an impact on the utility of the gloves. I recognize these might only last one season, two if I'm lucky, but my view is you pay for what you get. I paid $24 which actually may be too much for just 2 seasons of use. But the ratings were good and my other options weren't so appealing. I'll buy them again next year at that price if I have to, which is a statement. 5Mediocre GlovesI've been a fan of Smart Wool and own several pairs of their socks which I love, these gloves are mediocre however. The fit is most definitely large, only in finger length though. I have large hands, and the large size left probably an inch of space, so I had to return for a medium. As far as touch screen functionality - I'd say these work about half the time when tapping, when swiping they're don't have an issue. Warmth wise, they're ok and do a decent job of retaining body heat (Note that these have zero wind-protection, but that should be expected with a glove made out of this kind of material). My largest complaint is the placement of the seam on the thumbs. The seam goes perpendicular to the nail, traveling down the thumb, making it uncomfortable and odd to use your thumb on a touch screen (Also probably preventing it at times registering on your device). For a glove that is made with the expectation that the user is going to be tapping things with their thumb - I can not imagine how they thought it was ok to have the seam running this way. Maybe mine is just a bad apple, as all the other fingers have seams running parallel with the nail. 3These gloves are fantasticI was a little nervous about sizing for these gloves after reading the reviews - whenever I buy female-specific gloves I ALWAYS need size Large. Based on what I read I hoped for the best and ordered these in size Small and I'm so glad I did. They're perfect and not tight at-all! My hand measurement is 7 3/4" around the knuckles, and the bottom of my palm to the top of my middle finger is 7 1/2" (I do not have small hands!). These gloves are soft and flexible, I'm excited to have something for walking around the neighborhood and walking to public transport and being able to check my phone without exposing my hands. The touch screen feature is really cool - I love how it's weaved right into the fabric of the glove so you don't have awkward flat chunks sewn onto the thumb and pointer finger of the gloves. These are definitely worth it! 5Questionable build qualityCompared to other liner gloves, this did a decent job of protecting my hand from frost bite. The design of the finger parts is terrible. It hurt (not bad though), and caused comfort and base of each finger (where they meet each other), especially at the thumb. The finger tips were too long. Keep in mind these come at Large size at the most, and I usually only but extra large+ gloves, if such size is available. The finger tips began to deteriorate after 2 or so months of use. I wore these underneath another pair of gloves to perform heavy duty work. Also when I washed and placed these in the dryer, it lost it's ability to use a phone's touch screen. 3Highly recommendI got these to protect my hands when taking off my ski mittens to access my phone. Even in subzero weather they kept my hands warm for the short time my mittens were off while on the mountain. They are liners so they are not meant to keep the wind and dampness out but they worked fantastic when used as they were intended. I got the extra small and they are a perfect fit under my size 7 Hestra gloves. For reference, I wear a size 6 surgical glove or a size small latex glove. I like them so much that I have been using them when driving my kids to school in the morning even though I bought them to use as liners while skiing. 5Solid glove for both exclusive and inclusive useI'm a mail carrier that has a walking route here in the frozen tundra of Minneesoooota, and I have to say thus far these are my most comfortable glove. Depending on the temperature, I can wear these by themselves or underneath bigger fingerless gloves when it's under 20 , so my fingers still have a degree of both warmth and dexterity. The most important thing though is that so far, these gloves seem to have a longer shelf life than others I've used recently. In my line of work, the mail puts a beating on your fingers in the summer, and your gloves in the winter. Having to replace gloves is inevitable, however better products tend to last longer. These liners so far have held up longer than the silk ones I wore before. What I do with mine however may not be the same as the use you intend for them. Make sure that whatever purpose you have intended for this product, that it meets your wants and needs. Regardless, you can tell this is a quality glove for many types of uses, and I will be buying more when these need to be replaced. 5Good computer glovesThese definitely run large, especially in the fingers. I usually wear a large in women's gloves, so I ordered a medium based on other reviews. The fit around the palm was ok, but the fingers were way too long. I gave them to my husband. He wears them at work: his office is cold and he works at a computer, so usually wears fingerless gloves in the winter. But these have enough dexterity that he is able to wear them while typing and keep his whole hands warm. So the 4-star rating is for that reason.Edited to add: I ordered a second pair in Small, and these fit perfectly. They are also warmer than expected! I have worn these on very windy 45-degree days and they kept my hands warmer than other, thicker gloves I own. As a liner glove on colder days they will be perfect. The touchscreen feature also works as expected. So based on my very satisfied experience, I am raising my score to 5 stars. 5Warm, versatile, would recommend.I used these as gloves down to 23 degrees F, and I usually have issues with cold hands. I layer these under softshell gloves and I can get into pretty cold temps(low teens) with high wind and not need a thick clumsy glove. They are comfortable, and being made out of wool they don't really feel wet when you get water on them, and being made partially out of Acrylic they dry really fast and breath very well, making them perfect for gloves on warmer days as well as liners on cooler days, either way your hands will stay warm and dry, whether they are dealing with moisture from the environment or from sweat. 5Fantastic liners. Much better than the synthetic/nylon ones I have. These are great liners. They work great on my smartphone, and are very warm under my gloves, but not too bulky. They also have this miracle property of not really getting wet at all. Like, I can brush a bunch of slush off my snowboard, and the gloves look wet, but that never seems to translate into my hands feeling wet unless I really dunk them in water. What a time to be alive. If I have any complaint, I would like to see a bit of a rubber texture on the palms, as they are a bit slippery on a steering wheel. 5
