    Safety pins required to avoid accidentsWonderfully light weight but with some design flaws if you want to use it for gardening, driving, or just walking about. When you put it on in a breeze, you'll be reminded of those adverts for shampoo with the wind lifting up the model's long wavy hair and floating it about. Quite amusing at first and very cooling, but that entertainment wears off quickly when faced with the risk inherent in the hat's design.The bill/brim could be a shade longer but the biggest issue is that the flaps are too far forward. I've had to pin them back with safety pins so that my peripheral vision isn't suddenly blocked. Pinning them back has also helped cut down on the noise the flaps make as they flap about in even the lightest breeze, but the fact remains that without the safety pins, a flap can cross much of my face in an instant, momentarily totally blocking an eye on that side, blinding me to whatever might be coming from that side, which could be an accident waiting to happen. Even with no wind, without the pins in place, leaning forward to un-clip a weed-eater/brush cutter's harness, the flap kept blocking my view and after three attempts I had to take the hat off to do that simple task. I reckon the un-pinned flaps would be a hazard while driving, for example, a ride-on lawnmower. Curiously, despite being 100% nylon, they don't stink, or even whiff slightly, not even after a whole weeks wear.With a couple of safety pins handy, I'd quite happily recommend this product. 3It's pretty good for the priceTo qualify this review, I am 6' tall and I have a big head. I usually have to let my baseball caps out to the last setting for them to fit, and even then they are still not quite right. This cap fits great - granted I don't use the draw strings at all that are meant to decrease the hat size. Overall though it is a very comfortable hat to wear while working in the yard.The reason for only four stars is the neck flap. It is not quite long enough to cover the back of my neck if I look down while using a weed trimmer or mowing the lawn. It also is a little "stiff" and doesn't really drape very well. 4Nice Hat.This is the nicest hat ever. The adjustability is great since I have a large head and it actually fits me. I saw a smaller woman with the same hat as mine and it fit her beautifully. Quite a nice surprise since I wasn't expecting much. 5That is some brow...perfect.I knew when I bought this that it is a large and I have a small head. It is adjustable and I can adjust it to fit my bean head, but the mechanism that holds the elastic cord could be stronger. The elastic will retract if the adjustment is pulled on a bit. I've made it work. What I really like is the big brow. It really keeps the sun out of my eyes and off of my face. I bought this hat for that reason. The crown of the hat is thin and well ventilated. It does not stand up on its own but it's designed to fit close to the head so I'm ok with that. The back flap comes down to the nape of my neck and blouses enough for good coverage. I wish it was offered in a smaller size but it works for me in this blazing Midwest sun. 4Best sun hat--and I've tried lots of them!I live in a super sunny, and super windy state--and I work outside. Thus, I need a sun hat that provides a lot of coverage, doesn't block my vision, and doesn't easily blow off in the wind. This is hard to find! Last summer I ordered 5 different types of sun-blocking hats from Amazon, and I tried them all out. Even though this was the least expensive hat I purchased, it was by far the most effective. Here are the major advantages:1. It provides good coverage to my face, neck, and sides of head.2. The hat stays on even when it is windy. The chin strap can really be cinched down, and there is an adjustable "string" at the the back of the hat. Even in fierce wind, it rarely blows off. (The chin strap eventually ripped off the hat, but there are little rings on the attachment point that allowed me to just retie the chin strap.)3. With broad side brims, the hat will obstruct vision a bit. However, it is an acceptable level of blockage.4. As an added bonus, the hat is relatively cool. Air flow is facilitated by vents.This might not be considered super stylish, but I'm not looking for style. I wanted effective sun protection, and this was the only hat that really worked well. I liked it so much that I just ordered 2 more. 5Tensioner to make hat fit to your head was defective upon arrivalSun Blocker Outdoor Sun Protection Fishing Cap with Neck Flap, Wide Brim Sun Hat for Travel Camping Hiking Hunting Boating Safari Cap with Adjustable Drawstring, OliveThis hat is very large, you get it to fit by pulling on a band at the back of the hat. There is a piece that locks the band in place, keeping the hat at the correct size. The lock was defective, and would not stay in place - as soon as you let go of the band, the hat expands to the original size. Also, the brim is huge, which is good for sun protection, but I had to hold my head pointing up as I hiked so I could see the trail. Other people might not find this to be a problem 1Air vents, super wide brim and chin strap make this the best hat ever!This hat gives better protection from the sun than any hat I have tried and I have tried many! The super wide brim with its wide side and back flap, stop the sun from all angles. The side air vents bring in lots of cooling air - a must for Florida living. My son wears this hat while fishing on land and offshore. The chin strap is a must.It is a little big for my smaller head but this is still my hat of choice when riding my bicycle and when doing yard work in the Florida sun. Keeps me cool and protects me from the damaging rays of the sun. Love it. I place a rolled up paper towel at my forehead to create a snug fit and to act as a disposable sweat band. When I want to look pretty or when there is less sun, I switch to an expensive but smaller fitting, Sunday Afternoons brand Adventure Hat. 5Great for women with large headsMost women's stuff doesn't fit me (too small for me). Hats are no exception. The sun hat I had previously was nice, but I constantly had to pull it down tight, just to have it slide up so it sat loosely on top of my head. I was hesitant to wear a men's hat because I didn't want to look manly.I gave in and searched here for men's sun hats. Initially, the results showed the green version of this hat. I was happy when I looked at the color options and saw pink! Not that pink is my favorite color; it's just the only feminine option.The bill is very large. It provides excellent coverage against the sun, but it also limits visibility. I had to really bend my head back while hiking to look up the mountain.I thought this hat would be hot because the material is thicker than I expected. But the mesh openings on the side helped to keep my head cool.It definitely blocks the sun rays. After spending 8 hours hiking/berry picking on a sunny day, I did not have a sun burn, which is unusual for me.The flap in the back does flap around when the wind blows, but that didn't bother me because that allowed the wind to cool off my neck.The biggest plus of all is that it his hat actually fits my big head. There is even a little extra room. 5Love the style and the materialLove the style and the material. The hat itself is great! However, the first day out the stap on the left side broke, so I tied it to the wind clip. Third time out the strap on the right broke and my hat flew off. I tied that side to the wind clip. The sizer clip on the back never worked, just hangs loose. i still use the hat, it's great on a calm day. But if it's windy, I have to slide the strap though my backpack strap if I want it to be comfortable and not fly off.2 stars for a great hat....neg 3 stars for quality on the straps and clips that make it a pain to use. 2Great hatFor me this hat is perfect I love to kayak fish and the hat I was using did not fit tight enough, I had to stuff a big hanky under it to keep it from blowing off my head in a strong wind gust and even that did not work sometimes, and it did not always cover my head enough I am 74 and I take medication that makes me more inclined to get sunburn. This hat covers my head and neck and face great, and the drawstring completes the job by keeping it on my head. Thank you. 5
