Customer Reviews

Awesome pants, comparable to $100-$150 pants.Really dig these pants. I'm a gear head when it comes to tactical stuff and have tried a couple other pair of "uber-tactical" pants. These blow them away, especially when you factor in price. They stretch and move really well, look sharp (I initially got the multicams), and breath well for warmer climates. The vents in the thigh and calf actually work really well, especially if there's a breeze out. There's a little clip at the bottom of the pant leg that you can hook to your boot laces, keeps them down and tight on your boots....kind of a nice little feature. The overall quality is really nice as well. Tru-Spec is a legit company that knows how to put together a quality product and they hit a homerun with these. I'm really surprised they're not priced over $100.Just wish Tru-Spec would release a Navy Blue version, I'd be all over those. 5Great working pantsI drive a tow truck, recoveries and transporting cars (not repo work) so I need pants that I can kneel on various surfaces, pants that are flexible so I m not always readjusting my pant legs or groin area, and helps keep me dry and protected as much as possible. The side zippers by my outside quads/knees and down by my ankles are great, if I m working in the heat I can stay fairly cool if I have a breeze. The material is noticeably breathable where those zippers are, the lightness of the material helps keep it feeling cool on my legs up until the 99% humidity and south Florida summer sun is beating down on me while I m working, that s when those side vents makes that noticeable difference.I thought the back right zipper pocket would not be good for me because that s where I put my gloves when I m not using them, however, the pocket fits the gloves easily and nothing gets caught or tangled. All the pockets are great, I like to compartmentalize and these pants allow me that satisfaction. There s a small slip pocket on the right thigh that I put my iPhone 8plus in and I can climb under cars, roll around and reposition myself without it slipping or flying out. Now, if i get into an awkward position the top of the phone can stick out but I readjust those few times and the phone goes back in.I bought these and another pair of work pants after researching companies and reviews of their products and by far these are my personal favorite of the two.I ve only worn them for a week so the long term quality I can t speak on just yet.Dealing with cars in ditches, canals, wrapped around trees, burnt cars or still burning, and all kinds of situations I deal with will put these pants thru a rigorous test. If they don t fall apart on me in a few months, I ll be ordering more of these for sure. If you know your craft then you know the tools you need, I know what I m looking for in work pants and these are the next best thing to a custom tailored pair. 5Pretty good, medium value.EDIT: Having now backpacked and bushwhacked in these pants, I raised my review from four stars to five. I ve hiked through some seriously thorny underbrush, and they came through with zero snags. Slid on some granite scree (ouch!) and came out with no rips, no tears. I d strongly advise getting some lightweight knee pad inserts (5.11 makes the perfect weight and size). But yeah, they still don t breathe at all, so quite got and sweaty for long hikes with a pack in California spring temperatures (~70s).ORIGINAL REVIEW:Pretty good outdoor pants. The poly/cotton blend is a little stiff, and they hardly breathe at all. The (many) pockets are great, and the zips help with ventilation. I got these recently, and have worn them a lot to test them out before I take them motorcycling and camping. They stood up well for heavy yard work (pruning trees, chopping firewood), a Scout outing with the kids, and light hiking (2-4 miles). I m interested to see how they hold up to serious hiking, backpacking, and motorcycling. I m especially concerned about wearing these in warmer weather. When I bought mine, they were $70, which seems fair. The same pants are now selling for almost $100, which is more than I would pay for them. I like these pants, but not as much as my Fjallravens - if you re going to spend a hundred bucks, pop a few extra and get the Fjallravens. Also, when in doubt, go for a size smaller. I wear a 33 waist, and the 32 waist with stretch panels is more than big enough for me. 5Not hiking pants. They are restrictive.First off I d like to say as far as product quality control these pants are 100%. Very well done. That being said I m going to go into my take on themThe pros:1- the pockets being on the front of the pants are amazing. No more bending a knee and crushing what s in the pocket in the back of your knee.2- the cellphone drop in pocket is very cool I just wish it was on both sides3- the vents could have been great but there is a downside which I ll get to.4- the slash style pocket is very ergonomic and the pocket knife gusset is very nice.5- the adjustable waist band is incredible. it stretches at least 2 sizes and does it comfortably. The cons:1- these pants are cut strange. Being 5 9 and a slightly athletic build they are very tight around the butt and crotch and very baggy in the legs. They have somewhat of a short zipper which makes putting them on difficult.2- they are very restricting. Because of the cut standing upright the pants feel fine. Sitting down and walking they are normal. But try and bring your knee to your chest or drop to one knee and you re going to have problems. The areas they decided needed the stretch material are ok but the material is almost not stretchy at all. On top of this the extra heavy fabric makes these pants hard to hike in and very uncomfortable . Being labeled as expedition pants I feel they missed the mark on most people s expectations of flex.3- they are extremely heavy. I wouldn t want to wear these in any weather other then cold to cool temps. Even with the side vents they are very warm. As much as the mesh will keep bugs out it does retain heat despite the vent.4- the drop in pocket for the cell phone is awesome. However I would have liked it to be done on both sides so left handed people can use it.All in all they are not hiking or expedition pants. These are tactical pants. Ultimately I returned them because they were not what I m looking for. They may be what you want though 2Great pants for my Job. Professional as well as functionalThis is the third pair of TRU SPEC pants I've bought and I have been very satisfied with them. As with many of my reviews My list of concerns/criticism/likes are as follows:PRICE: It seems now a-days if tactical is anywhere in the title/description, the price range is higher. The same holds true here. These pants range from mid $40s to low $90s. I as of yet have paid above $68 and most likely never would. Great pants but IMHO not $80-$90 GREAT!!!FIT: All three pairs bought throughout the year have fit relatively the same on me; not uncomfortably form fitting, but your shape/figure/physique is definitely defined!!!! My wife LOVES the way they look on me. Looks aside, the fit allows me to physically conduct my job (marksmanship and tactics instructor) without feeling like I'm going to rip a seam and crush the family jewels.........DURABILITY: Thus far they are holding up great! Mind you I'm not low crawling across the open plains in them, but they have handled my movements and demonstrations quite well and with any luck as long as I don't get caught up on anything sharp or snag them on the side of a Helo door........I think I'll get several years of use out of them.FEATURES: Love the pockets, mesh and ventilation built into them. And especially like the adjustable waistband; it stretches to fit my ever shrinking/expanding waistline:-) Also like how water/fluids thus far continues to bead and roll off the material verses soaking into the pants. Of course, prolonged exposure the material eventually soaks up the substance, but initial contact, water/ coffee/ whatever just splashes right off without penetrating. GREAT FEATURE.SUMMARY: I'm very happy with my purchase - Thrice!!! Got the colors I wanted, fit is really good and with any luck I'll have these for many years to come. However, $68 is my top price. Anything above that is WAY to much.Hope this review helps in your decision:-) 4best pr of pants I own ! Period !Best pair of pants I own now ! I like to hunt, go to the range, and I like to have pockets. LOTS of pockets ! I also don't like having pants for shooting and hunting and pants for work (Business casual job). These are perfect for both ! They're the most comfortable pants I own. I especially love the elastic adjustable sides and makes it easy for a fat man to conceal carry (6'0" 240 lbs). I love the extra fabric reinforced knife spot on the pocket but if your knife has a tight clip, you'll need to slide the knife on the non reinforced section and slide it down to the reinforced section. But I love that non the less. Size - These are very true to waste size and are forgiving if you have a gut like I do because they expand. I wear a 38" waist jeans/pants when I don't conceal carry and a 40 " waist when I do carry remembering to always go up 2 sizes for conceal carry. So I bought the 38" waist thinking they expand to allow for conceal carry and they were spot on. For length, they run short. I normally wear 30 length in all pants but these are too short. So I had to send back and order 32 length. Perfect fit now. The fabric is kind of stretchy in bending areas but super durable. I can't find a negative to write about these pants. NONE ! 5I took these to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro!I LOVE these pants. I just did Kilimanjaro and these are the shell pants I used for 7 of the 9 day trek. The other 3 days were too warm to wear them in. To be clear, these pants are really only wearable in < 60 degree weather. Any warmer and these pants are too warm, even with all 4 vents open, especially if you are engaged in some sort of activity like hiking, etc.FIT:I chose the 32x32 and I am I 6' 0" tall, 190lbs and these fit perfectly. The waistband has some elastic in it that turns these into stretchy pants which adds a good 2" to the waistband easily. The inseams were on point which squatting or bending the knees, the thinner-material sections of the pants (black parts) allowed for great flexibility.DURABILITY:These things are built like tanks. The material feels like a heavy canvas. I brushed up against thorns and rocks and it handled them like a champ. Dirt/dust brushes right off. Water bounces right off as well. These pants are not "waterproof" but they are very water resistant. As an example, if you were walking through a field with a lot of dew on the grass, the water just beads right off and doesn't linger on the material.TEMPERATURE:I wore these pants anywhere from 60F down to -10F during my trek and they handled all weather conditions like a champ. They are bulky enough that I was able to fit (2) level 4.0 Under Armor fleece base-layers on underneath easily. They are totally windproof. We had gusts of 75mph+ on the summit and these pants cut through it like butter.FUNCTIONALITY:Pockets, pockets and more pockets. The phone sleeve is big enough to handle my Samsung Note 8 inside an Otterbox Defender case (crazy big). There are (4) vents for the pants to breathe which have a mesh liner. This is nice as it prevents ticks and bugs from getting to your skin. The bottom of the pants have cinch button adjustments along with a boot-clip to secure onto your boot shoelace to keep the pant leg in place (this pairs awesome with gaiters). There are two designated knife storage locations which have additional abraision resistance for the belt-clip portion of a folding pocket knife. The right-side wallet pocket has a dedicated zipper. The same goes for the left-thigh pocket (zipper as well). The other pockets (left-buttcheck) and right-thigh are flap with a single button flap which allows quick access to items. I loaded up the thigh pockets and found that they didn't impair my movement even while scrambling over rocks hiking.LOOK:These pants just look badass. I have received many compliments wearing them.PRICE:I bought these for $71 and I feel like that is bargain for what you get. REI would charge $150-300 for pants like this with a different brand (Arc-Teryx, Patagonia, etc.).OVERALL:I think I'm maybe using these differently than most people, but I took a chance and took a risk with them on an expedition and couldn't have been happier with their performance. 5Versatile Tactical/Outdoor PantsThese pants are very versatile and fit fairly well. They can be a bit warm in tropical environments (I have been testing these pants in Hawaii), but you can use the four side zips to allow for some adequate ventilation; in a normal, temperate climate, I think they would be perfect. I have worn these for five working days to test them out and stayed relatively comfortable the entire time, with decent water repellency during some rain showers, and they repelled more dirt than I thought they would. They allow you to bend and stretch practically any way you need to for work, etc. and stay comfortable without bunching up. Compared to the 5.11 Apex Pants, the 24-7 Xpedition Pants has much more room in the crotch, more flexible, and more comfortable when bending and twisting. There are well protected, durable layers on the front for bushwhacking and lots of lighter stretch to the rear. The French Fly on this pant is placed exactly where it should be compared to some other tactical pants. The belt loops could be a bit wider and spaced a bit better for a tactical pant, especially if you wear multiple tactical pouches with a regular duty belt. The phone pocket fits an iPhone 6s Plus with no problem; would be nice to see a phone pocket on the other side, as well, as I carry a duty phone and a personal phone. The front slash pockets are nice and deep, and have a thicker, horizontal area to carry a folding knife or other quick-clip device; this area is quite thick, but manageable, an area where other tactical pants fail with flimsy "pockets" for quick-clip devices. The adjustable ankle cuffs and boot hooks are a well-thought-out design to help keep debris out while in the bush. The multiple pockets front/rear are quite useful and feel secure when moving about; the front cargo pockets may be a bit long for some folks, as it ends right at the top of the knees, so lighter objects would be Ok, as heavier objects tend to irritate the knee when ambulating, by bouncing on the top part of the kneecap.Out of the multiple types of tactical pants I have and use, the 24-7 Xpedition Pants are probably my favorite at this time, especially for their versatility; so much so, that I have ordered more pairs and colors for different work/outdoor environments. 4I thought they would fail but(See below for update) I will see how these hold up and will post back in the month if there are failures. I am not entirely confident in the pants, however, because the material is thinner than I expected (especially for a $90 pair of pants). I am hoping for the best but, I doubt that these will be able to stand up to my regular activities. I am an aggressively active woman so let's see how these can hang in there.UPDATE: I said that I would post back in a month if there were any failures in the fabric of these pants. To my surprise, these pants have kept up with every activity I have put them through. I have changed my 3 star rating to 5 stars to reflect my satisfaction. I cannot believe they have done as well as they have and now I am looking to get another pair in a darker color. The tan color does show the stains and I cannot get them out, but what's really more important to me is that they can last. Yesterday I was rolling logs (see picture) up my legs to get them onto my log splitter. There isn't even one frayed thread in the pants and as you can see, these are heavy logs. I am thrilled beyond words. 5Very good, can move really comfortable while wearing thisVery good, can move really comfortable while wearing this. Only two problems after wearing this for 8 months.1. Cargo pocket is somewhat hard to access if you put small items such as car keys. Cargo flap/ zipper kind of limits the width of opening, which makes it hard for me to access deep part of pocket. If you put larger ones, I don't think you won't have this problem since you won't need to reach in deep.2. Having knee pad pocket is good, but I don't know if I'm doing this wrong; I did put Tru-Spec's knee pad, and knee pad itself is fine- it absorbs shock when I kneel down hard. However, this said knee pad doesn't stay in position. I don't know how should I put it to keep it firm even after rough movements.Other than that, this pants held very well and still kicking. Great price too, but might want to get a separate knee pad if you need consistent protection. 4
