Customer Reviews

Worth the high price tag!As a pipefitter I put my boots through a lot! I had gone through several pairs of laces in a few months before I got fed up. Initially I thought the price was way too high but I was desperate so I gave it a try. I have used these laces for 3 months now with no sign of them breaking any time soon! Definitely cheaper than buying several pairs of laces a month. The only possible drawback of the laces is they are a little stiff until broken in but that's a small price to pay for such a great product! 5not the same as my last set but ...This set of Ironlaces is much "slicker" and "thicker" than my previous set. The laces don't tighten up in a knot as much as I'd prefer so I applied some shoe polish in the required area of the lace and they'll do. If they last as long as my last pair their worth the price over cheap store-bought laces. 4Fantastically durable laces for work boots. Fire and sparks don't touch them and they are extremely durable.I'm a welder. Prior to this I used kevlar laces, and they lasted me about 8-12 months usually. That was pretty good for laces. But I got tired of replacing them so I considered other options and decided to try iron laces. That was at least 18 months ago, and these things are ridiculous. They are extremely stiff when you get them, and the color washes out, but frankly I don't care because they have yet to show even a tiny sign of failure. They are a grey-silver color now but other than that they look new. I don't know what they're made of but it seems truly amazing. If you need laces for dress shoes or boots, and you care about how easy they are to tie at first or what color they end up being, maybe look elsewhere. But I plan to only buy these for work boots, from now on. 5Two years, uncountable miles, outlasted two pairs of boots, still strong!I've been wearing these nearly daily for two years, apparently. For reference, I generally kill boot laces in less than a year and I wear out my everyday & work boots in just over a year. (these won't make your boots last longer)Ordering another set for cosmetic reasons, and moving the old laces to some junky utility/lawnmowing boots, where I fully expect them to last forever. These LAST. They're strong, comfortable, and don't come loose during a long day. They do fade rapidly, the material doesn't seem to hold dyes very well. So hit them with some leather dye whenever you're doing boot maintenance/polishing. Not a real problem. 5If I had more work boots, I would buy more of these lace's!I've used these lace's for a couple of weeks now and I've been happy with them. I'm a mechanic so I'm always walking, crouching, climbing, and other awkward positions. These lace's have never come loose or untied. They are a bit stiff when they are new, but seem to become more flexible the more they get used. 5A Must Buy For Any Type of Boots!First thing to buy for any type of boot! Great laces very tough and durable. Have used this brand of laces for at least the last six years on all my work boots. Usually one pair of laces will out last two pairs of boots. I started using these laces on any type of boot that I have to replace the laces on. They are worth every penny. Have bought several dozen pairs of laces by now and all have preformed perfectly and flawlessly. 5These laces are perfect for me but probably not everyoneThey are very high quality and I expect to get a long serviceable life out of them. Some other buyers have noted that the laces arrived frayed on the end. Mine were in perfect condition on arrival. They are not totally black but look a little washed out so if anyone has to wear them with a uniform they will want to consider that. But I am using them in an old pair of work boots that I love and just had resoled after nine years of wearing on a daily basis. I've got a new pair of Redwing boots as well and these laces seem sturdier than the laces in those boots with which I am very satisfied. If there are any unpleasant surprises in the future I will amend this review to show that. But right now I am happy with them. 5pretty good but.....I orded these laces for my danner work boots. I have already transferred them over to the replacement pair. The good thing is they are tough as nails. I have no signs of abraision anywhere. I have used the boots around cutting torches and heavy grinders. The bad, I bought a pair for some uniform boots for someone else and within three months they were bleached a very light gray color. Maybe not a big deal to some but, for people who wear a uniform professionally this is unacceptable. Also, these laces DO NOT stretch at all! This makes it difficult at times to keep them tied because there is no tension other than the stretch of the boot leather. When new these laces have a very slippery feel to them that also makes it hard for them to stay tied securely. Overall I would buy again for hard use work boots. I haven't seen anything similar on the market. 3I never thought I'd like shoelaces enough to review themI never thought I'd like shoelaces enough to review them, but these really are a lot nicer than any I've used. They're a bit stiff and a bit thinner than typical boot laces, which can be a little hard on the hands at first, but they really lock down beautifully and run nicely through the pulley eyelets of my heavy boots. Totally happy. Certainly curious if a cheaper stiff-thin lace would perform as well, but this is a high-quality product. 5I love these lacesI love these laces! I've had a pair on some hiking boots that have over 1000 miles and these laces haven't even frayed. They will definitely discolor fast, but to me that's not a big deal. They have been through super cold weather, warm weather, rain, snow, ice, slush, etc. and are still going very strong. They never let me down! I recommend going one size up from what you think you need. Just bought the 8-9 eyelet laces for a pair of winter boots with 8 eyelets and they fit, but not with enough room to double knot the lace at the end. Otherwise, great laces! 5
