Customer Reviews

Looks a lot like a Vibram Sprint. But don't be fooled, the fit and performance is totally different.I'm a long time VFF wearer. I've literally put holes in three pairs of Vibram Sprints (fun fact: that takes about 300 miles to do).Unfortunately, Vibram no longer makes the Sprint, so I was looking for something similar to replace my last pair with. The Classic looks a lot like the sprint. The sole looks exactly the same, and the biggest difference is that the Sprint has a Velcro strap over the top of the foot and another pair of Velcro "tabs" in the rear. The Classic has nothing over the top and this weird bungee thing in the back that you can cinch tighter with a plastic clamp.Maybe I was wearing the wrong size all along, but three size 44 pairs of Sprints never gave me any troubles. These never fit tight no matter what I did and gave me horrible blisters after a single 5K. Then the next weekend keeping them on in the water was a problem when I went kayaking (also never a problem for the Sprints).Since then I've purchased a pair of KSOs. They're not as open as the Sprint of the Classic, (and I don't really care about keeping stuff out - this was never a problem for me), but they fit much more like the Sprints did.If you're a former Sprint wearer and looking for a replacement, don't just blindly trust that the same size will fit you the same because both are Vibrams. They're baggy and not at all the same in how they perform. 2I had no idea! When I can, I prefer to go barefoot or wear sandals, but there are times when you need the feel of being barefoot while also having the protection of a sole. These FiveFingers meet that need. The sole is rigid enough to offer the protection I need and yet supple to allow each toe to work independently. The uppers are pretty minimalist and the Shock cord draw string has minimal effect. That is not a problem because the shoes run true to size, at least for my narrow, long-toed feet. The stretchable upper conforms very well and I have no concerns about these either falling off or cutting the circulation off. They are interesting to put on the first time (these are my first pair of "toe shoes"'), but I got used to getting the toes to go where they should very quickly. They even work well with thin toe socks, if you want to have more coverage for the top of the foot or ankle. I will buy these again. 5Pretty bummed about theseI'm no stranger to VFF and barefoot, but these killed me...they're so different from my other VFFs (KSO, KMD sport, even the VI-S) I wonder if I've gotten fakes. I should have sent them back the minute I first tried them on: they felt funny/different than my other VFFs under the metatarsal area. One afternoon outing on the river/ocean with some hiking, fishing, kayaking and just general outdoor play left me with a nasty case of metatarsalgia and plantar fasciitis that I'm still healing over a month later. I spend my career on my feet and go out of my way to take care of them, so shoes that hurt them are things I will not tolerate. Pretty bummed about these, I had high hopes. 1I really wanted to like these but...Let me start by saying I have been wearing VFF's for years now. One of the shoes I owned which I absolutely love are the original KSO's. I wanted an uber minimal shoe to wear during the winter with pants because wearing regular VFF's with pants, IMO looks retarded. When I ordered these I was stoked only to be disappointed when they arrived. They just don't feel fitted like all of my other VFF's have. The kind of feel like they are going to fall off. I thought if I tightened them it would help and it did, immensely, BUT seeing as how the cinching system works by going all around the top of your foot, if you pull the cinch to tightly they cut off the circulation to your feet and really dig in, making the shoes quite uncomfortable. I also noticed they are not stable, meaning they don't really cling on when performing any movements that I usually perform while in my VFF's, like lunges or jump rope. But the biggest disappointment by far is the cinch in the back itself. When you tighten these so you know they are going to remain planted on your foot, besides cutting off the circulation to your foot, the cinch is 6 inches long and dangles on the floor with the only remedy being to tuck them into the shoe.I'm sorry, but I am not willing to put up with this for the life of the shoe especially considering with my KSO's that have the same sole, lasted a good 8 months before holes developed, I will not go that same amount of time tucking the cinch into the back of my shoes.Sad to say but, pass on these, IMO. 3Near perfect but didn't last a yearHaving spent my whole life not only bound in the cast of modern shoes but in ill-fitting footwear my entire life, I quickly learned how much feedback and texture I was missing out on and found myself wearing these as my sole source of sole protection for my feet! $60-80/yr in footwear is nothing to complain about but also isn't the reality unless you live in a relatively dry region. Here in California I've managed... for a while. It's coming up on a year since I've had these and I've got two holes in them I can no longer ignore.I will buy another pair but they will be used as a primary shoe with a partner if not a secondary shoe to something more appropriate for year round use.Either way these were an awesome experience and the daily reward witnessing more flexibility and muscle toning in my foot was worth it enough to recommend it but only if you can afford it. 4Slipping and Gripping in the Old Growth Forest of the Olympic MountainsYoish! I do a lot of bare sole running in the Olympic mountains and though for years i have used moccasins. I have finally got around to exploring the five fingers. I find this style amazing. One of the problems that i have in footing my bare soles through the old growth rain forest is that things get a bit slippery, even with mocks. These give me enough grip that allow me to move through the forest and on the glacial river beds as if i had tree sap on my soles. I have a very wide and flat foot and these fit perfectly. I feel they are very good for shifting and shaping the toes out of toe squeeze which happens with other kinds of shoes.mick dodge 5Take a look at heel lock!Back of shoe has a little yellow loop which chafes back of my heel. Sometimes the loop even gets inside my shoe.Whole shoe is fine but could of done without the extra stuff on the heel. Shoe fit was okay but needed more room on toe length. The shoe feels a little stiff, compared to my earlier vibrams which are flexible and softer.I wear my shoes all the time so comfort and fit is important! Aloha! 3... is my second pair of five fingers and I love them! I exclusively use them for outdoor activities ...This is my second pair of five fingers and I love them! I exclusively use them for outdoor activities like hiking, running, climbing, kayaking, etc. For me there is nothing better. I absolutely LOVE how light weight and tough they are while providing more dexterity than any other footwear! The only issue I have with this model is the upper cloth. It doesn't hold up to high abrasion like skateboarding lol. My first pair were full leather and were indestructible! But for whatever reason they stopped producing that model . The only other word of warning is that they get gross fast! I wash them with laundry detergent often and they still get nasty AF in now time! But still, in my opinion these are unparalleled in versatility as far as footwear goes. I highly recommend them and will absolutely buy again! 4KSO are so much better than these.I've bought several pairs of the KSO as they wear out every couple years but this was my first time purchasing this pair and probably my last. First off they're about 1/2 a size too big which baffles me since my KSO fit perfectly. More importantly however, the seem on the big toe blew out after about a month of daily use. I'm not a seamstress but also not incompetent so I was able sew it back up with some black thread and a needle. If you look closely it looks sloppy but it's held for the last couple months. Disappointing that it was ever necessary though. 3Don t buy if you have Morton s ToeI ve been transitioning to barefoot and minimal footwear lately and I wish these fit. If you have Morton s Toe (the toe next to your big toe is longer than your big toe) this will not fit properly and will be uncomfortable. Don t believe vibram makes footwear that addresses Morton s Toe. Too bad, I d love to have a pair.....or three. 3
