Belt Tech 2.0!Surprised I am writing a review for a belt but I am honestly surprised how much I love this ratchet belt. Belt technology has finally improved!Waistlines change and the hole system is antiquated because more times than not your actual size will be between holes. The ratchet system allows you to very easily hone in on your exact size so it's a comfortable fit for you. It's also faster to put on because of this. All you do is feed the one end through the buckle till you get the fit you want and it clicks into place as your feeding it. So no more stretching your belt trying to figure out what is the best belt hole to use. Maybe Belt Tech 3.0 will auto feed through all the pant loops making it even easier. That would be awesome. But seriously, I hate wearing belts and this belt has made it kind of nice.About the qualityI got the buckle with hexagonal pattern and the shiny strip already has minor scuffing. It's a belt though and belts always take damage so not too surprised to be honest. Shiny stuff usually scuffs pretty easily so keep that in mind if scuffing bothers you when you pick your buckle type. Rest of the belt is like new so I don't regret my decision and I still like this buckle. Since this belt loses the holes, theoritically, you don't have to worry about stretching but only time will deny/confirm that theory. The leather quality looks and feels pretty decent though definitely NOT high end. What I am curious to see is how long the grooves on the back of belt hold up over time after constant use since that is what locks the position into place. I am also curious to see how the lever holds up over time as that is probably the bigger probable point of failure. It's pretty stiff in an awkward way so it might get too loose after a lot of use.Buy a bigger belt than you think you need. It is easy to cut to size as there is a trap door on the back side of the buckle that you can release the leather side that goes in there. So you don't need a pretty cut. Definitely do NOT cut the rounded side. 5DON'T pass this belt up!Discovered the ratchet belts while searching for a white belt to go with one of my golf outfits.Belt strap is very well made with some form of high density foam rubber as the inner core shape support which is sandwiched between two "seam sewn" synthetic leather outers.The belt it's self is very flexible and comfortable to wear, yet retains perfect retention when tightened.The Ratchet buckle is also well made with a very nice high luster surface that is further complimented by how heavy the piece is designed and made.Much more for your money than you would expect from just seeing it in pictures.This ingenious ratchet system is hands down the coolest feature to any belt I have ever owned, especially for the cost.The function is mechanically simple and makes so much sense I can't believe this wasn't the standard years ago!As for this seller, I was expecting the shipment to be a while due to the shipping info suggesting I would not see it till somewhere in between 2 weeks from now. Took roughly a week to get it in the mail box.I would definitely recommend this seller and these belts to anyone and plan to purchase several more since I know what to expect now. 5Almost perfect for everyday, but careful if you are too active.I have been very impressed by these belts and buckles. They hold, they are comfortable and fairly durable. I have used one for about 6 months now of everyday and workday use. It has held up well this far. The only problem I have found, is that on occasion when doing something active or sitting in certain positions you can acidently bump the release on the side of the buckle, causing the belt to become loose. For a lot of people this probably is not an issue. If you are fairly active you may want to buy something that hold a little better for your active times. Also make sure to measure a few times before you cut it, as it is easy to cut it a little too short. Overall I love mine and it looks awesome and for the price it is almost perfect. I would definitely recommend this and will probably buy more.UPDATEAfter about a year of use with moderate activity and everyday use, one of the pins fell out and the belt will not hold together anymore. I was literally using this everyday and I feel like I got a good long use out of it and have ordered another. 4Cut to lengthThe belt is long. But it should be. You are to cut it to length. Make sure you cut the flat end not the curved end.Cut a little and put it on. If you need to, take it off and cut it a little more and try it again. It's better to cut the belt 5 or 6 times than cut it two short and you have to give it a child. To look good, the curved part of the belt shouldn't stick past the buckle more than 1 to 2 inches.Test opening and closing the belt BEFORE you put it on. There is a small lever on the bottom of the belt buckle to unlock the ratcheting part of the belt. If you are wearing it you will not see the latch. 5Awesome belt!I've been using this belt for about 2 weeks now and absolutely love it! The belt itself seems to be a good quality. The buckle itself really amazes me as it looks great and feels like a very solid build. Expect it to be larger and deeper than a normal buckle as it has to do the ratcheting. I found long ago a belt will hurt my back as well as cause stomach problems so having a belt that is a quick release to lengthen when I sit, then really easy to tighten when I stand is simply awesome! I did find I needed to cut an inch off the belt, and that too was simple. Thus far, nothing negative to say! 5good buckle design, cheap belt strap materialThe buckle design was nice, the system is smooth and seems great. Very easy to use and stays in place.The belt material is a very poor quality. It is a very thin skin of 'leather', which has already begun deteriorating within less than 1 month. It makes the value of the purchase worthless, unless I want to buy another belt strap that matches the unique design of the buckle. And I have no idea if that belt strap will be durable for more than 1 month!? I was very excited with it... then very disappointed. 1Definitely one of my favorite Amazon discoveries this yearUPDATE: From 5 stars to 2.5. I hate to modify my original 5 star reveiw but I feel it's a must. With normal use, the black finish scratches off way too easily and has become a problem - see picture. You will see in my initial review below that I dropped the buckle on tile and it was undamaged. Since then it hasn't experienced any stress out of the ordinary, yet every time I look at it, there are more scratches and the black finish continues to wear off. I can now only use this belt if it will be covered by a shirt. This makes me terribly sad because I still love everthing else about the belt. If you're looking for a casual belt to wear with jeans and a T-Shirt, then this is fine. But if the buckle is going to be visible, you may want to try something else.Original Review:These generally get great reviews but I was still a bit skeptical because I had never used the Ratchet system and there were still a few negative reviews (of course there always are). My experience has been nothing but great so far.1. The ratchet system is awesome and I think far superior to traditional belt design. You can get the PERFECT fit even if your waistline changes a bit. I used to sometimes find myself "in between" belt holes - one was too loose, the other too tight. The ratched system eliminates that problem. Perfect fit every time.2. The sizing is perfect. Follow the size guide and order one size larger than your typical waist size. Note: Always go the full size up. For example: The size chart says a Medium is 32"-34". A Large is 36" - 38". If you are a size 32" then don't buy a Medium. Buy a Large. If it is too big you can cut it, but If you actually follow the guide I'd be surprised if you have to cut it.3. Durable and reliable. I dropped this on hard tile twice and there has been no damage. It has never accidentally released and I'd be really surprised if it did. It feels completely sturdy and I don't worry about it failing.4. Putting it on is easy, taking it off is easy once you get used to it. The trick to taking it off is to give the belt a little slack (push it in like you're tightening it) at the same time you flip the release latch on the bottom.5. It feels like genuine leather and I'm optimistic it will last a while. I have had other belts that look leather and then then the outer layer starts to peel off. This leather feels different (better) than those other belts. I don't think it has a coating that will flake off. I will update my reveiw if that starts to happen.6. The buckle looks way better than i expected. The price point makes it a home run. Don't hesitate to buy this. This is one of my favorite Amazon purchases this year. 3Wow! I LOVE this belt!Not only did it arrive in 1 week (it was supposed to take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive, but it is the most attractive and the sturdiest belt I have ever owned. No belt holes, just sliding it through is a big help--you can get it the exact size you want. I need a white belt to go with all white clothes for attending LDS temple sessions. My previous belt, with holes and a little piece that goes in the holes, was impossible to get a good fit with (either a little too loose or a little too tight) and the sewn leather that held the little prong on (prong that goes in the holes) broke open, i.e. the stitches ripped after the belt got wet once in a baptismal service. This belt is strong, beautiful, inexpensive, and adjusts to any size waist--to every 8th of an inch. I LOVE it! 5THE LAST BELT YOU WILL EVER OWN!Every so often a product comes along that is so incredibly simple and effective, it makes you wonder how you've gotten through life all these years without it. These ratchet belts are such an item. I saw the ad on television, and it looked like a good idea immediately, but I didn't order them. Which was foolish, because had I known how awesome they are... I would have ordered a half-dozen on the spot. As the years have begun to catch up with me a bit, my once trim midsection is in a never-ending battle with all my belts. I'm sure you know what it's like to have your belt either a little too loose, or a little too tight, you just can't ever seem to find that "sweet spot." This belt eradicates that problem, once and for all. Once you have trimmed the end where you want it, you attach the buckle, and you are good to go. I am a truck driver by trade, I am in the truck, out of the truck, bending, twisting, turning, lifting, walking up stairs, excetera. Not once has this belt been uncomfortable.Its simplicity is what makes it so remarkable. There are multiple colors, and over 30 different styles of belt buckle. I am telling you, make the investment and try one... you will literally throw out every other belt you own. Ratchet belts have completely redefined practicality, style, and comfort. I freaking love this thing! 5my 2nd & after a year i love it and,..this is my second belt and for all the right reasons! used to have to go through my old belts to find one that would fit best with fluctuating weight. last Christmas i got one of these. after the first month i had donated every single one of those belts, just kept my the new ratchet belt. i cut that one to fit a bit smaller than i should have. so when i gained a couple pounds over these just past holidays it was just shy the length i wanted. so i happily ordered a second. this time i was more careful and cut the belt length a little longer just in case i need it on down the road. so now as i lose weight both fit. next year if i indulge too much, i am covered both figuratively and literally by my newest ratchet belt.as to quality my first one is now over a year old with zero defects or problems. i wore it regularly and got used to being able to get a comfortable fit every single time. this newest belt addition is just as good as the original. both in my estimation are perfectly designed. i could not be happier with both. 5
